Hatchet vs Saw

A Sven doesn't hold a candle to Silky Big Boy..........I say that as a recent convert that always has a fire at night

I had a light aluminum handle for a sawzall blade made that fits in a 12" body. I have found it is worth the weight if a guy is going to get stuck waiting out bad storms.

I tote around a SOG camp axe. It cuts wood and i use it to hammer tent stakes and tree spikes. It clears branches when I shimmy up the tree too.

... and if I’m lucky, it’ll be splitting some rib and pelvic bones.

I’ve pondered bringing mine. I have one as well.

I've always carried a small folding saw of some sort but this year I'm going to switch to a hatchet. I bought a Gerber Gator 9" pack hatchet on ebay and I think it'll work much better clearing off small limbs and be able to serve as a hammer as well.
