Fuel efficient stoves?

As I get more interested in backpack hunting/camping, I’d like to get more serious about my gear. I currently have a msr pocket rocket and an old Primus that is similar to a jet boil. The Primus is a bit bulky and the msr pocket rocket isn’t very fuel efficient and doesn’t do well in wind. Which stoves should I look at that will be good in Wyoming wind and also conserve fuel?

MSR reactor remains most fuel efficient, best canister stove for boiling water and melting snow. The msr windburner is close to as good and the safety shutoff can be reset in the field (reactor's cannot). Soto wind master and msr pocket rocket deluxe are good small and light options. If you are planning to travel internationally or cook, simmer, bake, etc. probably moving to white gas makes the most sense.

You can improve the efficiency and heat applied to the pot with a windscreen on the pocket rocket. I use a windscreen on all my stoves. I have used things as a wind block on a jetboil as well. Also make sure your pot has a lid to help hold the heat in.

@WYO_ATL,

There has been some excellent threads here and on Backpacker on Stove comparisons if you search the topic.
Taking it to the Nth degree actually.

I don't concern myself on which boils water 10 seconds faster because, ALL of these little butane stoves are pretty darn good and fuel efficient. I have a 20 yr old butane stove- Brunton I think- that will go 5 days on a small canister. If I am going for 5 days I bring a second canister anyway.....
