This statement is definitely True. Since I just got this G29, recently bought dies for it. Then was gonna go in and try to buy bullets and brass and primers on Midway and just a whole lotta NOPE!

EDIT: I'm not nervous about hunting ammo, I stocked up on that before "Gavin Newsalini" got Prop 63 passed since it was going to take away online ammo ordering. And most of the shops didn't have much in the way of lead-free when it was becoming the law for hunting. Especially around here since I'm by the Coast. Beach communities.

But dang man. Pistol ammo is crazy how plucked clean it is. And I don't even own a 9mm! I figured with the new 10mm I got that'd help since everyone buys 9mm. But even the 10mm and .380acp can be hard to find. (Clarification: in the lead-free rounds I need inorder to take it with me while hunting in CA)
Does the handgun you bring for self defense,
“while hunting” also have to be non-lead? I was under the assumption it didn’t, as long as you weren’t using it for hunting.

It’s not all doom and gloom. I bought 5k small rifle match primers last week. I bought 8 lbs of Varget and 8 lbs of H4350 TODAY. Keep up with your alerts and check the shelves when you can. There are components to be had.

Never thought of this. Would enjoy hearing the outcome. I have a bunch of 40 cal hardcast if you need some.

I think the ammo shortage has a lot to do with Covid and supply more than people panic buying. I’ve seen quite a bit of odds and ends around. IMO powder is easier to find them back in 2013, especially since we have so many classified to search as well.

One funny thing I noticed is that all the calibers everyone says not to buy due to lack of factory ammo is in stock. Most of the local stores have all the wildcat stuff in stock. One place had like 10 boxes of 280AI, some 28 Nosler, 6.5/284 and a few others. I think it’s kind of funny all the uncommon stuff is everywhere but all the standard cartridges are hard to find.

That is correct. If it is not directly intended for hunting and being carried for self protection (exception of archery seasons) lead can be used and carried in a pistol while hunting alongside other legal methods.

I would like to start reloading for my 300 WM and it's impossible right now.

Good think I have enough factory loaded 200 grain Federal Terminal Ascents and 215 grain Berger HTs to get through next season.

This is the worst I've seen it.

I never really bulk purchased and then spent a bit this year when I saw the writing but was behind the curve a bit and little reluctant to spend too much.

I think this is worse than the Obama days. I don't remember it being hard to find 30-06 or 7mag ammo then.

This happens and we will make it through it again. Remember these times and stock up during the good times. 9mm/556 goes first. Then its 22LR. Then it hits the reloading components (primers, then powder, then bullets). Remember this and when you start to see the run on 9/556, start buying reloading stuff.

I was at work back in March when they announced the shutdowns and everyone was making fun of the guy that bought about 25 boxes of 9MM at once. Not many people are laughing at him now. Same with the guy that bought 10,000 small rifle primers at once in April.

This is funny... my dad always told me he would always shoot the common calibers - 243, 308, 30-06 was all he would ever buy because they would ALWAYS be available..... had to call and poke fun at him when I walked in to sportsmans the other day and bought 100 cases of 6.5-284 and ordered in stock 7 saum brass that night.

Midway also just jumped everything 20% it seems like. I was going to buy some more lapua 223 brass but I can’t stomach it when it’s 56 bucks on powder valley and 72 on midway

I bought 3 boxes of lapua 223 brass today anyway at that price. Things got expensive today.. Lapua brass, Tikka 223 from gunbroker, vertical grip, MT mag and trigger spring, and HOT TIP - 8208xbr in stock at powder valley. Edit: and another 500 77 TMKs..

My 223 pile is pretty stacked. A hundred or two more pieces of brass would be okay. But I got lucky and scored an 8lber of xbr locally a while ago, and bought enough tmk to last a while. 223 hasn’t been so bad for me to get stuff for. 6.5 hunting bullets.... Iv seen some Berger 135s in stock but need to get out and make sure my gun will shoot them before I buy in bulk.

Good luck with the tikka, I enjoy my 223. Thing is dirt cheap to load for

I’ve cut way down on the matches I shoot and how much I practice.
Im set on components for a while. I don’t see it getting better for a while, at least until folks get a feel for the new administration.

People are acting insane. You have grown men buying ammunition for guns they don't even have money they don't even have.

I’m pretty blown away with the lack of bullets for sale, literally every projectile I want to load for my new 300 win is sold out
