Has it ever been this bad?

about 2 years ago i was telling guys it was as cheap as it was goin to get and dont walk past 22 ammo without buying a few boxes.

i did practice what i preached!

i look for this panic to last and last. every time biden says gun control the shelves will empty.

2021 said "hold my beer and watch this"
I have been buying boxes of ammo when available for the last few years. This shortage makes me nervous even though I have plenty. Started rounding up reloading equipment and supplies a few months ago.

Even bought a couple new Tikkas last month.

Guess I`m a prepper know.

Try walking into some local gun stores. The online stuff is getting picked off by resellers almost instantaneously but there’s supplies hitting shelves too. I wasn’t there but my friend was just telling me he found the 6mm Bergers he’s been needing along with a good selection of other bullets. I just found 8lbs of H4350. It’s bad but there’s supplies trickling into stores.
That’s how Iv been getting most my stuff

Go buy from Hammer. Expensive, but worth trying out copper. I just picked up some of the 123 grain absolute hammer to tinker with and had them delivered in about 2 days.

From my end, I'm all set with rifle stuff, and can shoot lower volumes out of my .44 mag. But, I'm wishing I had gotten myself a progressive rifle/pistol setup, and even a nice shotshell setup and the components to go with it. Rewind 6 months ago, and I looked at it as "Not worth it" for 9mm and skeet loads. Now I'd like to have the flexibility.
Iv been thinking about it. I do have enough varget to warrant working up a load with the hammers. But idk if I can get past shooting such an inefficient bullet.

Midway also just jumped everything 20% it seems like. I was going to buy some more lapua 223 brass but I can’t stomach it when it’s 56 bucks on powder valley and 72 on midway

Don’t even look at ammo prices.... why didn’t I buy Berger ammo by the pallet when it was 28 bucks a box.

This is worse than 2013. Ammo was tough to come by but reloading components were still available ..22, 9mm, 223/556, 40 and 45 were really hard to get, but hunting ammo was still available. When stuff became available I stocked up. I’ve never seen 30-30, 30-06, 270 ammo or components hard to get. If you don’t reload and didn’t stock up, you’re screwed for a while I’m afraid.

Dies, shell holders, presses, etc, all sold out. People finally wised up on reloading. Unfortunately.

I have been seeing some stuff hit shelves in stores but its not consistent and doesnt last long. I am hoping that Vista getting the Remington plant running at full capacity again will help.

Just got some h4350, so I can check that one off for a while.
Next time powder valley or bullet central get Berger 6.5mm and 30 cal bullets in stock I’m dumping a paycheck.

I just hope midway dosnt beat them, cause their prices are nuts now.

Iv seen the shelves empty of 22lr and the other common ones. But this fall you couldn’t even get a box of hunting ammo. Had buddies that couldn’t find a single box

some time in the next 4 years they will try to go after reloading stuff. serial number every bullet? tax powder out of sight? primers? primers go through limited distributors or register????

ya cant have the rif raf makin ammo!![that they dont control]

we cant think of what they will come up with next.

Kalifornia has been talking about it for a while now. Only a matter of time now with a Dem majority gov't.

This is the worst I have seen, even worse than Obama years.
This statement is definitely True. Since I just got this G29, recently bought dies for it. Then was gonna go in and try to buy bullets and brass and primers on Midway and just a whole lotta NOPE!

EDIT: I'm not nervous about hunting ammo, I stocked up on that before "Gavin Newsalini" got Prop 63 passed since it was going to take away online ammo ordering. And most of the shops didn't have much in the way of lead-free when it was becoming the law for hunting. Especially around here since I'm by the Coast. Beach communities.

But dang man. Pistol ammo is crazy how plucked clean it is. And I don't even own a 9mm! I figured with the new 10mm I got that'd help since everyone buys 9mm. But even the 10mm and .380acp can be hard to find. (Clarification: in the lead-free rounds I need inorder to take it with me while hunting in CA)

I think this is worse then 2013.
Heck you can even get dies. I've never seen a die shortage.
Sure before you had to be diligent and do alot of checking around.
Now its impossible.
And I can't believe millions of people took up reloading.

I moved to Texas in early 2013 and the shelves were stripped of everything. I have a picture somewhere of the ammo aisle at academy and there are a few boxes of some exotic European cartridges and that's it. AR parts, magazines, etc. were all unobtanium.

This time, my local shop in WI had 22lr, .223, and 9mm in stock 3 weeks ago and still had some when I went in last week (not at great prices, but much less than what people are looking for on GB). Standard capacity mags, AR parts, etc. all in stock and plentiful.

I've seen Varget, VV powders, H4350, and a variety of IMR and Alliant powders online in the last week (you need to be somewhat quick), but you can get them. H4350 was in stock for about 2 hours this evening online.

Primers seem to be a different story though and sell instantly though.

TBD on how long it goes depending on what the incoming administration says or does.

If it wasn’t for reloading and having stocked up on some supplies before the world went mad I wouldn’t be able to do much if any shooting right now. I used to look at 3000 primers (large, small pistol and rifle each) and think I was well stocked. Doesn’t feel that way now.

I also think it it’s worse than 2013. The lines outside my local Academy look like Black Friday. And there is NOTHING of any kind on the ammo or reloading shelves. They had exactly 1 shotgun, 2 pistols, 3 rifles, and 5 22lr revolvers.

I’m stocked for now and don’t generally buy my supplies at Academy, but I’ve never seen shelves this bare.

When I bought my 20 I bought a case of blaster ammo and several boxes of SD/woods ammo. Glad I did. The thing I f'd up on was not saving the brass. I wasn't planning in loading pistol but I am now starting to stock up on supplies as available. Primers are the biggest hard to find. I wouldn't put it past anti-gunners buying them as well. They buy up tags here in Kalifornia so it's well within the realm of possibilities.
