Harrisburg PA

If anyone in my area is reading this and could help me, I would highly appreciate any advice or real help with installation of a scope. Otherwise, I will just use YouTube and Google, of course.

I'm in solanco, I'll be up at carslile barracks in 2 weeks for the certified hunter range day if you want hands on help. I'm not wasting the time mounting a vortex though.

Appreciate the link.
Could you elaborate on Vortex part? I'm considering Vortex Viper PST Gen II 3-15×44. And want to install with a cantilever mount. Is it harder than what's in this description? Are there any installation specifics?

As the self-appointed chairman of the welcoming committee, it is my privilege to extend a laurel, and hearty handshake (virtual, of course) to our new PA member, Anton.

Read the second link. Vortex scopes have a strong record of failing to maintain zero.

This is a very sweeping statement. I looked into this.
I see only one reason why Vortex might have this reputation. Vortex sells a vast number of scopes, ranging from entry-level Crossfire and Diamondback models to the Razor. Because there are so many in use, you'll naturally see more reports of problems online compared to brands that have less variety and manufacturing volumes. People often don't distinguish between product lines. A complaint about an entry-level scope gets generalized to "Vortex scopes."
Not even talking about "scope problems" that are actually caused by loose bases, improperly torqued rings, poor mounts, or installation errors.
.
The most important thing. My Viper PST Gen II 3-15×44 MRAD doesn't have this reputation.
Yes, I already bought the scope!
.
Now, for the mount, I'm considering either Badger Ordnance One 154-300B
or
Reptilia 100-116 AUS
Both are 1.54 in height, Black, 30mm
.
.
The second link leads to the Field evaluation section. I didn't find my scope there. Opened several threads there and don't understand what I need there. I don't mean to be lazy, but could you please point out what is relevant to my question? Is there the same step by step scope installation for a scope like mine with cantilever mount like Badger Ordnance or Reptilia?

Thanks in advance!

The process is the same for any scope/mount. But the results vary because not all are made equally well.

They didn't test entry level vortex.

Post in thread 'NF SHV 4-14x, Viper PST 3-15x, or Arken EPL-4 4-16x?' https://rokslide.com/forums/threads...-15x-or-arken-epl-4-4-16x.373913/post-3801364

Oh, well... if my scope failing to maintain rero, then I will find something else. This is my first rifle and first scope. But until I change the scope, I will choose good quality mount and will make sure I'm doing everything else right.

Thanks for your help!

Yes it does, and you should return it.

Why does your reply read like it was copy and pasted out of Chat GPT?
Because I don't have any experience, and I have to Google to figure out everything.

My scope is a $1k scope. A lot of people out there enjoying $300-500 scopes (Vortex and other brands). So, I'm already in a better position.
When this scope becomes a limitation for my skills (when I develop skills), I will find something better.

But If you have an advice on what would be the closest rivals (that are maintaining zero) without doubling the cost, I might consider changing sooner.

Thanks.

The price of the scope means absolutely nothing. Zero, Zilch.

A $350 SWFA holds zero better than a $4k Kahles. Holding zero isn't something manufacturer's focus their energy on.

In the $1k price range. Nightforce SHV, Trijicon Credo, Maven RS1.2.

Arkens are also great. They can lose zero, but less likely than anything Vortex.

Literally any SWFA is under $1000. I only shoot SWFA.
