My Conquest MC 3-9x40 started acting up recently.
I'd bought it used around 10 years ago, and it's done good work first on my .30-30 then on my .308 bolt rifle. I'm a still/stand hunter in east central NC, so the scope doesn't get much abuse. Always transported in a soft case, and no big drops in the woods. I was perplexed when my deer rifle (Marlin XS7) nearly missed the paper on my end-of-season zero check. Tried to sight the rifle back in, but the adjustments were inconsistent at best. It would put one or two shots where it should, then it would start drifting badly from there. Nothing I tried (checking hardware, thorough cleaning) seemed to help until I mounted an old Bushnell Dusk to Dawn on the rifle, and it sighted right in. It hurt, but I set up a warranty return with Zeiss and sent it in.
Fast forward about 3 days (2 days to ship, so it sat at Zeiss for one day) and they emailed me. Scope was bad and would be replaced. I reached out to them, and they offered to send a new Conquest V4 4-16x44! I asked if they could send the 3-12x44, and they were good with that. They offered a discount on some accessories so I added flip-up caps for the scope too.
Plan is to gift the XS7 to my kid for next deer season and maybe put my old Sightron SII on that rifle, and put the Zeiss on the Sauer 100 .308 I'll be getting before next year.
