My dad has hunted whitetail his whole life, he is 70 this year and he still becomes a child when he sees a deer, it's awesome. I would love to take him on an elk hunt, he has never had the chance, but he is getting old, and has an amputated leg. Because of this, hiking around the back country is not really an option, so any hunt we do would likely need to be on horse, or from a vehicle. In NY there are options for handicap hunters to fire from a vehicle, are there any similar exceptions with western hunting? I have heard of some states having handicap specific tags, but I am pretty sure that is for residents only. If available for non residents, what do they allow for? Does anyone know of any states offering handicap tags for nonresidents? He was also a veteran of Vietnam, I have seen that there are sometimes discounted rates for that. Anyone out there have any ideas how I could do this for him within a reasonable price? I would just go full blown guided hunt for him if I could afford to, but can't. Any handicap elk hunting advice to make this a realistic possibility would be appreciated, thank you all.
