H1000 300 wsm long action loads

The reason I opted to find a load with H1000 was I had more velocity with it than H4350,H4831SC or N560 with 200 grain eldx. I’m curious why I’m seeing pressure with the 71.0 gr. now when I didn’t originally.

What has changed with the condition of your bore and brass since original firings?

I annealed the brass after the second and third firing. It's a new barrel with 170 rounds shot through it. I'll probably switch to H4350 since it's more available and I only have 1&1/2 lbs of H1000.

Was your first firings with h1000 using virgin brass?

I’d guess a couple things are going on. First, your barrel is probably building more pressure now that it is broken in and speeding up and it might also be building more pressure based on how fouled it is. Second, once brass is fired and fit to the chamber better, I tend to see pressure earlier than when it’s virgin. If you changed lots of h1000 that might be a factor too.

What kind of brass are you using? Any idea how much it has grown from virgin 0.200” above the case head?

If you are piercing primers at 71.5 and getting cases stuck in the chamber @ 71.0, I wouldn’t expect 70.5 to play nice consistently!

It's Norma brass from bondstrike ammo. I'll measure when I get a chance. I changed H1000 lots but I shot the 71.0 with the new lot the before I tried 71.5 with no issue. After I had pressure I dropped back to 71.0 and pressure there so I ended there. I'm going to try once fired non annealed brass after I measure. Appreciate the input

Thanks for all tips in this thread. Going to try H4831 with 200 AB's now. Hunter is giving me 5/8" groups @ 2811fps, if you're looking for a powder that's cheaper and plentiful (at least it is in Canada) to play around with.
