Gundog training

I don't know about training collars but my personal experience and opinion is that both positive and negative incentives are needed for dog training. There's some people who say only positive reinforcement is necessary, and maybe they're that good. Or, more likely, it sounds good for marketing. You'd never raise a child with only positive reinforcement. Hunting dogs especially are stubborn and have strong prey drive. At the end of the day, using a training collar correctly may be the best and safest method of applying negative reinforcement. I havent had one in years, but I bought one when my current dog was a puppy.

Yeah. I would want a strong recall with my dog and I feel the collar would be the best way to reinforce that with her. As of right now it has just been all positive and she is doing very well so far.
