But they are more intensive to work with. I use .204s the most though (brass inserts and IW collars).

The broadhead adapter ring is for rear deploying mechanicals like the Rage. The back of the blades can cut into the carbon and cut the shaft in two. No need to use them if you aren't using that style head.
