So I got the wife I to archery about 2 years ago now. Shes a pretty good shot, but now that leagues are started again, I was reminded of a problem with her shooting that I haven’t been able to figure out.
She always starts out good, (4’s and 5’s on a 1 spot), but once we hit about half way through, her groups start shifting high: like up into the 2’s. It’ll start with an arrow or 2, but soon her whole group will be up there. Still a good group, but just 6” high.
I know it’s not her sight, because we don’t touch that, and it’s always dead on to start the next week. She’s too new to be able to know what she’s doing wrong. And I’m a good shooter (typically mid-upper 290’s on a 5 spot), but I’m not great at watching someone else and picking out what they’re doing wrong
Fwiw she’s shooting a Mathews avail with a single pin Tommy hogg, and an index release
(The high shift also happens at 3d shoots. Eventually she’ll start shooting up into the spine and over the back)
So if any of you have anything I should watch out for it would be greatly appreciated. She likes shooting, but when she starts shooting bad without knowing why, it really takes the fun out of it for her
