Electrician Mulitimeter Question

when I was in the trades we were only required to have a tape measure, slipjaw pliers, level, and basic and tools. All other tools and equipment were to be supplied by contractor. If you chose to buy other tools, that was up to you.
That’s not gonna work for electrical.

Most shops will provide benders, ladders and a knock out set. Some may have a stud punch. Other than that your responsible for the tools.

The fluke T5 600 is an awesome meter for just about any day to day work and isn’t real heavy and bulky. $155 on Amazon. The open ended jaw is convenient when you don’t have a lot of space between the wires to get a clamp on.

Congratulations to your daughter. Hope she enjoys it.

Buy the fluke 87 and if you want to spend more money spend it on long leads (retractable), alligator clips, needle pins, etc. regardless of the meter if she can’t touch what she wants to she will be frustrated.

You mention she will be working industrial. Is she going to be an I&E tech or just an electrician.

If she’s going to be doing instrumentation work, get the Fluke 87.

I used lots of them and prefer Flukes but pretty mich all of them do the same functions. I have 2 off brand now that have held up for 20 years. I might skimp on an off brand then use extra money on Clamp on Ammeter and Wiggy.

Don't forget the magnet holder accessory, they should make it stock with their meters but super useful to free up both hands and keep the meter at eye level
