Anyone have pics of how they're displaying their bear hides and or skulls? I have a bear hunt next fall and I don't know if I have the wallspace to display a rug, nor do I know if my wife will let me have a full body mount.

I think a euro'd skull can look neat on display, but I'm gonna have to somehow display the hide too.

Any pics?

No pics with me but I just tan the hides and hang them on the wall like you would a fox or most any other fur. Saves money and space which allows me to kill more of them.

Use a search engine and look at the images that come back for "bear skull mounts". There are a lot of options.

Currently my bear skulls are just sitting on a shelf. This allows easy access to view and examine. At some point I may do something like a football display with the relevant info (ex: location, skull measurements, etc along with a photo).

Only do a rug if the hide is in great shape. If it has been rubbed bare, then do not bother. This is what I did with my grizzly and one black bear.

If the bear is truly a big one, then consider getting a life size mount done. The hide condition may come into play during the consideration. I have one very large boar that I am doing a life size on (almost done) and a second very large boar (bit shorter but more muscular) that I would have loved to have done a life size on as well; but I have to consider the wife.

Have seen hats and coats made out of pristine hide. Not sure when I'd wear them, but it is cool as hell to look at.

X2 what AZHunter said. I life-sized my grizzly because it had a perfect hide and squared 8'2". One of my black bears I had a 'rug' made and the others are just tanned hides that I've draped over the loft railing. Have a spring brown bear hunt booked so will be interested in this thread for new ideas.

I've done a search, didn't find much. But that probably means I didn't search right.

Its a fall hunt so we'll see what the hide looks like and go from there, I guess.

I just got my spring bear from AK back two nights ago. I put the skull on a knotted piece of juniper I found and cleaned up and clear coated. The hide which was pretty good I had soft tanned and threw it on the guest bed for now.9F330F30-3B98-41F2-B480-0C683D36345B.jpegB1CCA60A-CED0-43E2-AF65-47BDEA06E9D9.jpeg

I have a really nice slab of burled and spalted maple. I’m going to make a long shelf with it and start setting my bear skulls on it. Look up bear hides in the old trapper packs. Kind of a different and more compact display for a hide.

I have my bear skull on a live edge "sofa" style table I made, displayed along with my deer euros. I need to make something to better display them, like those bases that hold them at an angle. Rug is on top of the piano for now, not sure if he'll go in the wall or stay there.

My son had a 3/4 mount done. This pic was before it was completed. Should get it next week.

My black bear is a 3/4 mount standing on a tree limb as if he is coming out of the wall, looks nice and does not take much wall space
