Great demonstration of easy load "development"

Here’s my own example I just did.

I’ve shot 156 Berger’s in this gun most of the season. But for the final hunt I wanted to test something new. So I loaded up five 144 LRHT’s about .010 off the lands, with 2gr. more powder than I was shooting with the 156’s.

I shot them one evening really quick after work, that way if they didn’t shoot, I didn’t waste a good morning. They shot really well, and had the same zero.

This morning, I went out early to true it at distance. 3 shots at 600 yards and 3 shots at 1000 yards is all I shot.

25 degrees colder, and 15fps slower on the average.

So in 11 shots, I have a new load, trued to 1000 yards. I didn’t test anything, except the bullet/powder combo. That’s pretty much all I do anymore. It pretty much shoots, or it doesn’t for me. I don’t do too much adjusting.

Curious: Did you decide on 2grains more based off something or just an educated guess?

Kind of both. Just past testing of bullets and powders, and then an educated guess. Basically I knew for sure it wouldn’t blow up with 2 more grains lol. And if it shot good, without much pressure signs, I wouldn’t even mess with going up or down.

Perfect. Thanks.

Chill man, my wife is on here. 😂 great shooting. Curious to hear your experience with the 144’s game. What hunt are you taking them on? I’ve always thought the increased speed on the 144’s was intriguing because you’re getting same wind drift as 156’s with wider danger space.

Lmao 🤣. It’s not that impressive when you see my setup for shooting groups lol. It’s definitely no “field scenario” haha.

And I agree! Basically the same BC but 100fps faster. I’m taking them on a coues hunt.

The 156 was an excellent killing bullet, if I didn’t want to have any questions on a hunt, I’d just use that bullet for sure. But the only way to see how another bullet works is to test it, so we’ll see what happens on a baby deer.

Even if it performs good in this one instance, I think I’m still going to run the 156 next year. I have 1,100 of them, and the performance was really consistent and impressive on all the animals I’ve killed so far.
