Got my CVA Accura dialed in today

Might have to try this… cheating on my bow this year with my muzzleloader in sept. Also have an accura V2, last animal I killed with it was a pronghorn back in 2016 so back to the drawing board with conicals & powder, kind of between Thor (300) and maxiballs 370, just have to see what groups best with the 777

I got a roll of gasket material from Tractor Supply. It’s like $7.
Enough cork for a few years lol

I just use an exacto knife and cut around the base of the bullet.

You could use a 1/2” leather punch, but be sure it cuts just over .500”

A 9/16” or 13mm arch punch might work well, and quickly. How much “over” are you making them?

Went to the range this morning and fine tuned my Accura for Colorado hunting.

I’ve mentioned what I use for powder/bullets before, I made a little tweak to the setup by using a thin cork wad.

CVA Accura V2 - stock gun/sights

90gr (volume) Pyrodex P

420gr No Excuses bullet (with a .062 cork wad)

1376 fps

Tight group at 50yds and a ‘Minute of Elk’ group at 115yds

Shots were taken with gun resting on my pack to simulate a hunting situation

mighty fine shooting.

what's an minute of elk?

.562” is probably a bit too much.

I’ve seen some guys use .54 cal wads in a .50, or .50 cal wads in a .45 cal

Mine are probably around .511 or so

In my Accura V2 I tried the .54 felt wads with the 420gr NE and several different weights of BH and accuracy was just OK......nothing special. I'll try the cork before I move on to other bullets. My daughter has cow elk and cow moose tags for the same hunt, so I want the best accuracy she can get. I expect shots to be within 50 yards, but she should be good to 100 if needed.

Did you have any problems with the screw that came with the rear sight? My accura MR threaded hole is too big for Williams sights so I am looking for others.
Nice group btw
