Had a tough day this week. Out of nowhere, she was almost totally incapacitated. Went to emergency vet. Hemangiosarcoma tumor on her heart. Nothing we could do to save her. Drained fluid from around her heart for a few hours of relief & to give my son time to love on her & tell her goodbye.

It’s heartbreaking but she had a great life of almost 11 years. Each day full of love, happiness, eagerness to please & seemingly unlimited energy.

Lover of belly rubs, elk bones & pork rinds

Disrespector of daylight savings time

My shadow & best friend to my boys

Sorry Crowmangler. Losing a good dog is damn near unbearable. I'm reading this as I sit with my plott on our carport couch. A man only has a few good dogs in their lifetime. I think the hardest part when losing a good dog is thinking that you'll never find another good one.

That just plain sucks, man.

Sorry for your loss. Dogs are the best people I know. A little humor, which I hope makes you smile at this difficult time - I was in Whole Foods (a yuppie and expensive grocery store) the other day. An attractive young woman with an adorable GSP of about 12 weeks was parading around and there was a group of middle age men huddled at the end of an aisle talking among themselves looking the woman's direction. She thought they were looking at her and was clearly annoyed with this behavior. One of the guys noted her attitude and said in a loud voice, "Don't flatter yourself, we're looking at your dog!" I had the sense that humbled her. Again, sorry to hear about your dog's passing.

Sorry to hear about your loss .Have had a GSP in the man's best friend stable since 1990 .
Never forget my first one " Henry " . It's 0458 here on 11-17 - 25 , drinking coffee after I let " Madison " our now near three yo out back and brought her in for breakfast. Heartbreaking kinda not good with words .
" God bless " ! ........ from sw Fla edge of the Fla Everglades.

Have to very respectfully disagree with one thing you said. I’m 77 , been owned by many dogs, both sporting and companion rescue mutts. I’ve yet to have one that wasn’t a “ good “ dog. Every one of them has left paw prints on my heart . Now, people I’ve met during my time on the rock ? That’s a whole different story!

“Sorry for your loss” just doesn’t cut it at times like this. We had to put our 16 year old beagle/basset hound cross, Trusty, down a little more than a year ago and it still stings. Similar situation to yours, she just suddenly went off a cliff one Sunday morning and was obviously not long for this world. We took her to the vet and they made her comfortable and allowed us a private room to share some tears and give her some last treats before sending her off to live with our other doggos who went before her. The house still isn’t the same without her.

I’ve come to the conclusion though that getting another dog isn’t “replacing” our four legged friends, it’s simply a physical representation of us (humans) opening our hearts and homes to experience more love. We have an 18 month old GSP, Dash (lovingly referred to as “Dash-Hole” when he does something naughty, but he’s the goodest boy) as well as a 6 year old Black British Lab named Kudo (the other goodest boy), and although neither of them is a replacement for Trusty, the amount of love they add to our lives and the instinctual care, protection, and love they show my 6 month old son proves that good dogs truly can only add to the love experienced in your life.

Prayers to you and your family, and take solace in the fact that truly ALL dogs go straight to heaven. She will be waiting and wagging for you again one day!
