Van Zwoll really does his research on this stuff.

I thought it was gonna be a 6.5CM fan-boy article (with quotes from @Ryan Avery ) but was pleasantly surprised. The 6.5 vs. 7mm in the title was a little click-baity but he eventually got to it.

I wondered if he’d mention Doug Burris’s World Record in there and he did. Interesting take that “…even Doug Burris couldn’t save the .264 Win Mag” (paraphrase)

Give it a read and share your thoughts. Did Van Zwoll nail it?

264 Win is a LOT better cartridge with today’s bullets and powders than when it was introduced. I’m sure glad it is still around. WVZ does a real good job on all his rifle/cartridge/shooting/hunting articles. Best of the old guys. Joseph Avon Benedikt is a younger writer that does very similar well researched and thought out pieces.

"The modest success of the .260 Remington after its 2002 start is partly due to the 7mm-08, which preceded it by a decade"....ummm, he may want to do a little more research. The 7mm-08 is based on the 7/.308 which came out in 1958. Remington made rifles in 7-08 in 1980, the 260 Remington in 1997. That's a wee bit longer than a decade.
