Good Belt

Spec Ops better BDU belt is what I use. No issues under a pack belt. I wouldn't use a riggers belt under a pack belt as there is to much hardware there.

I have two of the Bison Last Chance belts that I wear almost everyday between work and everything else. With my black one, I have to do what jquarnberg suggests and double it back through the buckle to keep it from slipping, with the brown one I wear to work everyday I don't have to - so the slipping might be somewhat dependent on the lot of material that the belt was made with.

When wearing a pack of any significant weight and doing any technical hiking, I have to make sure that I have some of the pants material pulled up above the top of the belt before I put the pack on, otherwise the belt, more so than the hip-belt on the pack itself, will start to rub me raw.

I'm also always readjusting my pants, but I think it's because of how the pants are cut and where they sit on my hips rather than the belt slipping. It happens with every pair of outdoor pants I have regardless of how light or heavy my pack is with the exception of my work pants (I do field work for the state, so I'm always in the woods and always have a pack on) which are normally a pair of Dickies 874 original fit work pants. I think the cut of all these pants to sit lower on the hips, opposite the cut of the Dickies, combined with being skinny, contributes to everything slipping and getting pushed down more easily while moving around.

Good points...I can't say that I ever figured out the exact cause of my hip issues. I knew a)the waist in my pants was a size bigger than I needed so I could get the right length, but they have adjuster tabs so I wasn't originally concerned about that. b)my belt was constantly slipping so I was constantly having to pull my sagging pants up and retighten the belt and c)my thigh holster was great for keeping my pistol away from my rifle in the Gunbearer but it was no doubt contributing to my sagging pants and I was always having to mess with the leg straps.

Any commentary on the pros/cons of the OVI Under Pack belt vs the double-layer HPG version of the same belt? I'm guessing the OVI version "disappears" under a hip belt a little better, but the HPG version might do a better job supporting weight that's hanging off the belt (like my tactical holster)?

I only have the HPG one, very happy with it. Fairly light/flexible, making it very comfortable, but holds my pants up better than any other belt I own. Definitely get this one, it's cheap and very effective.

I'm liking the look of the HPG. I have a sitka which I really like, and a Camofire belt which is virtually the same but I don't like it as much. The material is a little wider and doesn't go through belt loops quite as smooth. And the buckle material just "feels" cheaper. But it was 8 bucks on camofire.

I also double over my belt. I liked the Sitka before I saw pictures of this, but now it is rock solid as far as slipping. I got the Camofire after I learned of this.

I did not like the KUIU belt much. It kept slipping on me. I've been using the Sitka belt for the past few years and like that much better. Its basically the same material, but with a better buckle.

I pulled the 1" belt out of my Columbia Silver ridge pants and that works good for me. small enough to push the buckle eaily up or down to get away from the pack belt. Day made, I don't really notice it under the belt at all. The Columbia Kestral(SP) Ridge pants have the same belt.

I had the same issue with the Kuiu belt. I'll just say once again, the HPG belt absolutely works like a charm. Infinitely adjustable and you don't even know it's under your pack. Only $18, made in the USA, and is lighter than the Kuiu (only 3/4 oz. lighter).

I got a new belt for Christmas that I am liking a lot. It's a brown coat tactical with a raptor buckle. It's a solid belt for carrying a gun on and always fits just right.

I'll have to check out the HPG belt. Haven't seen that. I've used the Sitka Bomber belt and liked it (slipped a little bit, easy to double back), the Kuiu belt and didn't care for it (kept slipping) and the Core4Element talus belt (Same construction as the bomber belt but doesn't seem to slip).

I've seen the new belts that Sitka is coming out with and tried one - I'm sold. As light if not lighter than the Kuiu and bomber solid. I'll have to get an HPG belt based on recommendations here, but I'm also stoked to get the new Sitka belt to try during a hunt.

I like suspenders and a riggers belt. Riggers belt is a habit from the .mil days that probably isn't necessary although I have used it as a drag and an impromptu safety harness in a tree stand from time to time. I like the kind with a cobra buckle but they rarely fit through standard belt loops. Blackhawk, 215gear, and tyr tactical are great.

I own a bunch of suspenders from different brands but prefer the most minimal and those that have a little stretch. I keep going back to the ones that came with my first lite pants. Minimal and lightweight.
