GoHunt Atmosphere - New Primaloft Evolve Jacket

The one review on gohunt compares it to the ambient and atom, with a stronger face fabric. Definitely seems interesting.

Definitely interested as well. A lightweight puffy/insulated jackets is about the only piece of hunting clothes I may buy this year

I picked one up, hope the torso isn’t obnoxiously long like the Kuiu vests I tried recently.
It is, I immediately set up a return, fit is great besides that.
I’m a large in Sitka and Kuiu and have no issues. 5’8 190
Here is it under the Sitka arrowhead ambient jacket. This is a large tall imo not a large, but I guess when your “marketing” “gear guy's” are all Over 6’ that’s what you get.

What piece are you comparing in that pic?

Sorry thought I said,
The go hunt jacket is under the Sitka Arrowhead mdwi mid layer in large which fits me like a glove.

image.jpgJust received my atmosphere today. I’m 5’11 and 180lb and found the fit to be perfect. For me the length is good to maybe a touch long but would definitely not size down. Personally for me I find Sitka tops a little short for my body. Material feels great, again very comparable to the ambient jacket. I think it’s gonna a jacket I wear a lot both casually and during the season.

Ahh yep, I see that now. Brain skipped right over it! Thanks

Definitely gonna nab one of these when they go on sale! $200 for a midlayer... My number 1 complaint is usually too short of a hem! I always want layers to go below my pack hipbelt not under or above. And to cover my back while sitting.

I also think the lightest (most breathable) face fabric is best for this kind of thing... If I'm bushwhacking I'll put on my wind or rain layer. Heavy face fabric kind of defeats the whole point of this?

How shiny is the material? How stretchy?

I’ve been contemplating buying one with my points that I have however, I’m pretty partial to my Sitka Ambient Hoody Jacket.

Idk why they didn’t include a chest zipper pocket. Maybe for weight savings? I’m one of those type of guys that uses my chest pocket for little items that I don’t want to get lost.

Length also seems to be a concern for me. SG makes their items longer to be tucked into pants, under a pack belt etc..however, if just wearing it everyday it’s long.

Yeah, way too long for me in Medium. 5'-6" and some change. Probably a 28" inseam but wear a 30" in pants for the most part for upper body/lower body proportion reference. Front of the jacket is below my dingleberries. Small would be too tight up top for sure.

I appreciate longer torso jackets because they stay put better underneath your pack.... then again, I am 6'3"
I agree, its also nice when you are sitting to glass, not having your jacket ride up causing a draft.

I think these were designed more for actual use in the field than an every day jacket you wear to town.

I guess as a shorter dude I’ve not experienced that issue. Never had a jacket that rides up above my belt in any position except a Carhartt when I’m doubled over.

The cut of my FL Corrugate softshell is perfect. A little below the belt in the front, contoured rear that sits a little lower. I’m used to jackets being a bit longer than that but not 4”-5” longer. Just excessive to have the hem of the jacket line up with inseam of your pants.

I think it’s just designed with some of those tall, lanky GoHunt guys in mind.

Thats fair, I would prefer if more companies made every jacket standard and tall. Considering the price I dont think that would be unreasonable.

Yep, average American male is 5’9”. Tall
And normal sizes seem like that would be best to capitalize on sales (more skus) vs making just ok for everyone.
