GoHunt Atmosphere - New Primaloft Evolve Jacket

Oh, boy. Ordered one in to replace my dying original ambient hoody. I wanted to believe they might be doing development with some experienced people, but I’m really not sure that’s the case here. After the video release showing they are trying to do pants and shelters I joked they should stop trying to be everything……now I know that’s the case.

So I’ll just list what I found. 5’8” 165, medium for reference.

- cuffs are like a dead bird atom lt hoody, but the stretch material is loose.
- the length is pretty comical. When your sleeves and torso are longer than SG…..wow.
- the hand pockets are really low, snack dab for a waste belt.
- it’s wider than every medium piece I have. Sized like and outer/over layer.
- the hood is good, some extra material for my small dome so it doesn’t fit close/tight as intended.
- the armpits and shoulders are quite weird. The arm pits start very low and flare out, and the shoulders are oddly tight just wearing the piece. With most technical layers and jackets, they are pattered so when you lift your arms the jacket torso doesn’t ride up a lot. I cannot emphasize enough just how much that is not the case with the atmosphere piece. You raise your arms and the entire jacket moves up crazy high.

I’m including some photos with the atmosphere showing a dynafit alpha direct hoody, original ambient hoody, old atom lt, SG cirque over the top. Pictures don’t do it justice.

I love the go hunt guys, the podcast, even some of the products they put out. I like the gear shop and even the idea of them trying to make good gear. They seem to be genuinely developing stuff, but are branding a LOT of stuff quickly. Too quick it seems. Holy crap guys, this is a tough scene, especially with all the talk on getting fit dialed. This ain’t it. I get not fitting every body type, but wow.

I hope the piece works for most folks, truly. It’s evolve so it’s soft, light and warm, orettt comfortable.

Ordered a large a couple weeks ago and I think they hit it out of the park with this jacket. For reference I’m 5’10” 180lbs and I find the fit to be perfect. My arms are a little on the longer side though so I like the length of both the arms and the torso. Have worn it on a couple hikes as well as just around town. Exactly what I was looking for. Extremely lightweight and breathable while also being surprisingly warm. Only time will tell how the durability is.

This piece really works for me… I dig it. 6’, 190# and have a large. Wore it for the first time at TAC this past weekend and I really enjoyed it. I have the original Sitka Ambient hoodie and am going to replace it in the pack with the GoHunt hitter.

How was fit? The comment above is concerning. Obviously different people, body shapes are hard, but….

Im also tall and thin, Im a LT if I cant get it, otherwise Im an xl and the torso is usually half a size too big so the arms are long enough. Sounds like you are also taller and leaner…thoughts on fit?

Someone said the Final Approach polartech piece was designed for Spongebob.

If that's the case, I'd say the GoHunt Atmosphere was designed for Squidward.

If you look like Trail or Brady with GoHunt, it'll probably fit well.

Cracks me up on the last podcast... "We got a lot of feedback that the piece is too long, and I cannot understand you need the tail long when your glassing, the tail is perfect for us."

Us= 6'- 6'5"

Us Short guys also don't a skirt...

I give it three months, they will have a short version, or make the latest version the "Tall"

This qualifies me as colossally out of touch, but I have no idea who any of those people are.
Theres conflicting info. Help me out here.
I googled squidward. He’s much more handsome than me, but he appears to have more legs than I do. Im not sure how to interpret this. Also not sure what legs have to do with a jacket, but thats on me.

Are you saying it fits well if youre tall and thin? If so thats me.

Yes, tall and skinny is the ideal build for the GoHunt Atmosphere. A couple of the GoHunt guys are tall and skinny. Seems they had a lot of input on the cut of the piece. I think Brady is like, 6'-5" and 185 lbs.

For me at 5'7" 165, the waist of the jacket lined up/passed the inseam of my pants. It's a no-go for the short and stocky fellas.

Mindful Jay has made the same comment I did about the shoulder fit, which I do not think is talked about enough. Yeah the sleeves and the torso are long. But the upper area tightness of the jacket seemed extremely off to me. I could deal with a little bit of extra length at 5 foot eight but the way the jacket fit I could not deal with

Reading though this thread made me laugh. I've had on just about every hunting jacket on the planet. I'm short and fat and never had a jacket that was too “long to use” I do understand jackets being to tight in the shoulder for us blocky fellas though. Gonna have to get one to review now.

Belly might help, lol. The way it fits Trail in the video (snip below) is how my FL Corrugate and Final Approach primaloft piece fit in the front at the waist. Red line is about where the Atmosphere lined up on me. Should have taken pics before I sent it back.

Maybe I'm short and oddly proportioned!

Gonna have to try one of these when they get more, sounds like it’ll fit me perfectly. I ordered a fl navigator instead because they were out of the L. Customer service at fl says their fit is “more athletic, you should get the XL”. But the xl sleeves are small and barely long enough, body is at least a full size too big, and it’s still snug across my back. Guess its impossible to fit everyone, but man it makes me appreciate tall sizing! Anyone with a grey large want to trade for a camo fl navigator in xl? 😜

I got one the day it was released. I’m 5’8” and fluffy so I got an XL. I really like the length. The fact that my back isn’t exposed when I sit down is great. I love when my shirts and jackets turn into a tube top because I moved around or sat down.
I have worn the crap out of the jacket since I got it and my only complaint is the outer shell has started to run. I haven’t call GoHunt yet so not much to comment there.
