The Federal Subsistence Board recently voted to close GMU25D moose hunting to non-federally qualified users on rivers within this unit.

That's gonna throw a kink into some hunt planners' 2026 plans, so be advised and get answers before you come up if you were expecting to hunt there this year.

I figured no one must be hunting this area in 2026 since the pitchforks weren’t out yet!

Just the start (well been a decade+ fight for some of us.)

I am very concerned about these latest actions from the Federal Subsistence Board. We are steadily losing hunting opportunity on our federal lands in a state where the federal government owns 60% of the land.

Do I read that correctly as being for the 2026-2028 years?!

At some point residents will challenge the fed closures and hunt anyway, while displacement concentrates pressure in neighboring units and depletes those resources too.
