Giving Thanks!

The native American I hunt with has a ceremony has performs every kill we get. He will cover the gut pile with stones and brush, then he does a little chant over the pile and the animal..

I only posted this because hunting has become so commercialized than the personal side. If that makes any sense. To each his own.

You mean when you're watching people who have made it a business?

Thanking the animal doesn't make sense to me. The animal didn't give you its life willingly so there is nothing to thank the animal for. The animal would have much rather continued to breathe and could care less if you did or not. However giving thanks to the Creator of the animal and all creatures including mankind should be the one receiving the thanks. The Lord Almighty allowed me the opportunity, gave me the health, provided the creature, I will give my thanks to him alone.

“Give thanks to the Lord for He is good. His steadfast love endures forever”.

Our Heavenly Father gives us everything. From the air in our lungs, to a beating heart, the people we share camps with and of course the animals He created and gives to us to eat. He gives us the health to hunt and the abilities to be good hunters. He gives us everything we have!

It’s not totally uncommon for people to publicly express gratitude to our Father after killing one of His animals. It’s the secular world we live in that doesn’t want to recognize Him in everything we do.

As we approach another hunting season, I pray for safety for all of my fellow hunters, safety for our families as we temporarily leave them, and for success in whatever you’re pursuing. Thank you Jesus, for another day on this earth.

Never at any time after I have shot a deer and it ran rapidly away trying to escape the threat did I ever get the sense the animal was saying to me "your welcome".
