Gila unit outfitters

OK, lol, so if you want facts…. Even with those 50% better odds the approximate numbers are: 16a 1-30 for for 1st season and 1-80 for second archery. 16b 1-10 to 1-20. 16c 1-7 to 1-15. 16d 1-50 to 1-175. 16e 1-10 to 1-20.

I’ve been doing this a very long time. I understand the odds very well. Sure, try the outfitter draw, but no need to get too excited about it just yet. Even with those 50% better odds, they are still loooooong. Of course if you are also willing to pay for a LO tag as a back up, booking an outfitter now does make even more sense.
lol, I know the exact odds, 1:7 or 1:10 is bad? For a unit that has higher success rates then most 10pt plus NR CO, WY, MT, UT or AZ hunt codes?

Again 50% plus. OP I hope you draw.

Jeff Lester at Hunt Hard 110%.

Don't know any of the outfitters you mentioned but I do know this, be careful with outfitters in New Mexico.

OP it also depends on what kind of hunt you want or are willing to accept. When most people think of the Gila, they are thinking about the hunt quality of A or D, and/or the wilderness experience of B. Big difference between those and C, for example. The Gila is not just the Gila. Be sure to properly manage your expectations.

I figured I would do more research this year and plan on applying next year unless they offer landowner tags. Just wanted to not be that guy that is waiting until I did draw a tag and than be scrambling to try and find a good outfitter
You odds of getting a landowner tag are less than the public draw.

Kinda correct, but not necessarily if you are willing to pay stupid prices.
E-Plus has for the most part privatized elk hunting in New Mexico just about everywhere. But there are much better opportunities to get a quality guided hunt in the Northern GMUs. A quality guided hunt on private land is certainly doable up there. You will still need to have a fat wallet though. I think Onx is providing a spreadsheet with the odds for the outfitter’s draw.
