Who has the GIF suckered this year?

My GIF really likes to buy gear. So far she has talked me into the AMR, Outdoorsman Micro Pan Head, Xtherm pad, EE Quilt, Kuiu clothes, Carter two moons release, new arrow setup..... What will be next? Maybe a 65mm Razor spotter.

I've managed to talk the GIF out of a few things, but so far :
HS Precision PLR, Exo 5500, Hanwags, Maven B3s, HPG kit bag, SO BT2, new quilt and pad, Spot Hog SDP, arrows, and an off road overhaul for my Ranger. The GIF doesn't care much for my savings account.

WTF is GIF?

It is that evil doer who makes you buy crap..........................
And she is making buy lots of stuff this year----new tikka t3 lite, new scopes, quilt, new pack, maybe a set of 20 x bino's, etc, etc, etc.

Randy

First step in addiction is admitting you have a problem. Yup, I'm a gear whore.

I dont really see this as the GIF like Aron wrote. He was talking mostly about taking the right gear into the backcountry. Upgrading to a better pad, release, or quilt are just smart moves if you have the cash. Now taking 2 pads because you are affraid one will leak is something the GIF would tell you.

Yep, that's the way I see it. An Xtherm and a quilt are just great gear to have. Shouldn't take the GIF to convince someone of that.

I agree with MuleyFever that upgrades aren't GIF items. Now , buying two extra rifles while still saving to pay for the fall hunt might qualify as listening to the GIF. Carrying something into the backcountry that is very unlikely you would use and definitely isn't nessesary is the definition of listing to the GIF.

There's a lot of stuff that I really don't need that I read or hear about on here and other forums. For me, getting a bunch of that stuff would qualify for the GIF. But something I recently picked up I didn't even know existed until I watched Aron's podcast on GB. The worst time for me on a hunt or even camping in general, is that early morning time when it's time to get up and get ready to roll. If it's 60 degrees out, that's not a problem. But 40 and below chills me to the bone. I've been looking for something that would help take the edge off the cold every morning during archery season, without having to haul in a stove and pipe.......and especially above timberline where there just isn't much fuel. So that MSR Micron Lantern sure sounds like the ticket to me. Looking forward to trying it out.

My GIF said "hey, why spend money just on hunting? You should do 3 gun, too". Other than that, Just new Injexions when the Axis arrows would be perfectly fine. I did say no to a new First Lite setup, since I have perfectly suitable Sitka gear.

She keeps whispering in my ear something about building a custom rifle! She's getting harder to ignore! Anyone interested in a practically new Tikka T3 lite stainless 300 win mag......

I agree with everyone else. Those are just great upgrades. I think you are answering more to the gear whore in your head than the GIF. You need to spend every dollar on crap like water features and lawn furniture to the point you have nothing left for gear. That is how I control my gear purchases(with the help of my wife). She knows if she doesn't spend it and work me to death every weekend, I will find something to buy and somewhere to go.

My GIF is always making me spend money on gear that is on sale that I end up replacing with what I really wanted less than a year later or stuff that doesnt make the cut into my pack anyways. Always happens on Sierra Trading Post; need to stay off that site...
