I think I'm going to go with a climbing stick. I've never used these so I don't know what to look for.

I wonder how Hurricane Gravity Forward Climbing Sticks would be. I would only need to use two or three of the 4 sections which would get me plenty high. Plus, it's like having a ladder.

Any thoughts about this company's climbing stick system?

Dangerous, how would you stay attached on way up. Lots of great options, use a harness and lineman’s belt, it will allow you to work hands free while standing on your climbing stick or step.

Like everyone else is saying, a stick works well. Personally I prefer the Hawk Helium because you can stand on two feet (has step sections parallel up the whole thing). Much safer feeling to me. They weight within about 1/2 a pound of other, lighter options. Depending how tall you are, you should only need one step to get it the desired height. You may also want to bring something to put behind the cameras to angle them down if there are not thumb-width sticks on the ground.

I could put a camera 10 feet up in a tree with a single cheap basic stick quite easily. I feel like that ladder thing is significantly over complicating things.

It looks like everyone I see sells a set of 4 or 5.

Does any company sell them in single-stick units?
