Getting hip vents sewn into pants

Anyone have hip vents sewn into pants that didn’t come that way from the manufacturer? Can it be done without looking like crap?

I sewed zippers into the hips of my OG prana Zions and it was pretty easy even though it was one of my first sewing projects. They don’t look professional at all, but they’ve held up for over a year of hiking and hunting. I would think any local seamstress or knowledgeable family member could do a pair of pants in under an hour.

I had zips added to a pair of first lite Obsidians. Came out great and made a
big difference.

My friend had someone add them to Eddie Bauer Guide Pros

I had some sown into Wrangler Cargo pants for hunting. Worked great
I Could care less what looked like

Reminds me of the guy who added a Rolls Royce hood ornament to an old beater Chevy hood.

I haven’t done it but my wife and mom both know how to sew and either could do it in probably minutes. It would be pretty simple for anyone with any sewing skills.
