I have been hesitant to jump on the chassis rifle kick - just too much love for traditional rifles. However, for some reason, the sig cross carbon 6.5 creed with 18" barrel has got my attention. Not sure if its enough to buy one yet, but I would say its time to start doing some research. Love the idea of a compact rifle in my pack - especially in spring while hiking and maybe finding a bear.

Guys that have made the switch from traditional to chassis or at least added one to your lineup - how have you liked them? Good or bad?

Any thoughts on the sig cross I mentioned above?

I’ve been very happy with my Sawtooth 18” 6.5 Creed. Shoots great, and well built. Folds nicely on my pack as well.

Here’s what it tends to shoot like.

Personally I've never understood the love for traditional rifles. Chassis rifles seem like a straight upgrade to me: folding stock, more pistol grip options, integrated ARCA rail.
Can anybody help me understand the appeal of traditional stocks? Aesthetics sure, but is there anything else I'm missing?

I have an sig cross in 7prc and absolutely love that gun. The folding stock is a really nice feature to me to shorten the gun up when packing. I also added a can to mine and it feels like you are shooting a .22. Can’t go wrong with a proof barrel

I purchased a standard sig cross, installed a proof 18in 6cm prefit. It shoots great. The cross is a decent rifle, I just wish someone would come out with a better trigger option.

My kids rifle is a regular Cross with a 16" barrel in 22 Creed. 6.5 creed's recoil was too much for even dad.

I like the rifle. Only complaint is the joint hinge has some wiggle now with the stock locked into the place while shooting.

Ok my other huge gripe is barrel changes. The barrels aren't shouldered. Trying to get them to head space right and hold that spacing while tightening everything down is a female dog.

Honestly I'm going to send my rifle off to do the next barrel swap. My buddy is a pro shooter in PRS. He helped me last year. First attempt the barrel came loose. Second attempt held but got dang it's no Tikka swap or like changing an AR barrel.

I got the 16" .308 version last winter and really like it. It shoots about like the one above, one ragged hole at 100yd and still 1/2-3/4 MOA out to 500yd without much effort on my part.
