I'm willing to bet this guy uses the phrase "Green Decoys" on a regular basis.
Had to look that one up, but no I don't fit in that group. I like putting gas in my trucks, and It annoys me that Wyoming/Feds have moved the wilderness areas out so far.

So after a very few posts on the subject I give. If you guys feel so weakly on some very important issues and so strongly against some very important issues then at best you are fence sitters. At worst you fill in the blank.

Would it be possible for you to not open the threads that concern you?
That's not really the point. The people who run this forum decide what gets to be on it and what doesn't. Obviously, political discussions have been deemed a no-go. Maybe because they attract a certain type of troll - in this case you - while alienating people who might otherwise be valuable to the community this forum was started for in the first place.

Remember Matt this is a topic about free speech, we are not even talking politics.
That's a hard sell given that your initial post was made to whine about not being able to discuss politics, and you've been following that up by assigning people to opposing political camps who don't agree with that point. But to address the point you've shifted to, the 1st amendment doesn't give you the right to crap in someone else's kitchen.

Go to Facebook, you can argue all day and post Trump/Biden memes. People are sick of fighting and arguing, it’s been satan/hitler/racist/fascist name calling since Bush was elected. 20 years of “this is the last free election if we lose” from both sides, apocalypse on the horizon non stop.

I’m going hunting, shut up.

Odd for you to say this. Probably true but considering I have posted no profanity or threatened anyone that end would seem especially left to me. Something like "Shut Up!" We want to keep our heads in the sand, hide in the shade, think happy thought, etc. Amazingly there is no dedicated 2A forum either. Very suspicious.
Ever since I saw the video where Robby Denning shot a skunk and had a funeral for it, I've been suspicious of their motives as well. And the skunk never sprayed. I think you might be on to something.

I think "free speech" means that you can say what you want in the town square and the modern equivalents, especially when it comes to doing so without government interference. But it doesn't mean you can shout "fire" in a theater, or walk into my house and start spouting off about some BS. Similarly, you can't say whatever you want in a forum that is owned and moderated by private folks who have imposed what many of us think of as reasonable limitations. It probably didn't help that instead of making a constructive point ("Hey, could we post political posts if they are respectful?"), the subject of the post, and almost immediate attacks on anyone who disagreed with you, were probably not well received.

FWIW, I bet there are more people on here who agree with your political views than oppose them, but most members don't feel the need to say so, or they do so in a more respectful and reserved manner.

Think of it this way. You invite some buddies over to your house. You are having a few drinks and telling hunting stories when one of them starts talking politics. You are so tired of all the political ads and other election BS that you just want to talk hunting and get away from all of the politics. It's your house and you decided to ask the one friend to keep the conversation to hunting or you will ask him to leave. It's your house and eventhough it's not "illegal" for him to discuss politics, it's also not "illegal" for you to kick him out of your private property.

Same thing applies here. I hunted 2nd rifle season in Colorado and we never saw an elk, but one of the best parts about the trip is we forgot about the election, we forgot about COVID, and internet, and TV, etc. We just had hunting, sleeping, and eating, and of course staying warm in the cold temps and snow. That's what guys are here for. We know that when we come on here we don't have to read about politics. It is a private site, you are essentially in someone else's house when you comment on here and they do have a right to kick you out.

It has nothing to do with red vs blue or the 1st ammendment.

So if one chooses not to discuss politics online they are fence sitters? Just about every forum I go to has a guy like you come on and start squawking about "free speech" and "1st amendment." When you do it becomes obvious that you aren't educated on either in regards to a privately owned forum.

It is painfully obvious that political rhetoric is frowned upon on Rokslide. It is also painfully obvious that nearly everyone agrees and is good with that.

So here are your choices; let the subject go and post about hunting and such; or leave the forum. It really is that simple.

Remember this is a private hunting website, so free speech is not an operative concept. Topicality however is.

Makes me think of that guy you hire and in the first day or two he tells you how you are doing everything wrong.

Joins a couple weeks ago and instead of saying “hey this place is not for me” and moving along. He instead try’s to force his perspective and morals on everyone. Hmmm though a different lense that sounds a lot like....

The 2A comment literally made me laugh out loud.
