Don't let your wives see your answers.
What does your entire backpack/hunt/3-5 day hunt gear list cost roughly? I have my bow and arrows and am going to get a exo k4 frame, and gonna do probably a kuiu bag on it, but as far as contents I keep looking and dang shits gonna add up quick. So ya just looking to see what everyone else lists cost them.

In the long run the upfront cost fades from memory, but the upkeep cost to replace gear as it wears out or is outdated is pretty consistent. Year in and year out I probably spend $500 a year on gear other than the rifle, which seems pretty cheap really. This year some boots and a new rangefinder were about $500.

buy used stuff on here or eBay. Can buy solid colors of non-hunting brand gear that was designed for backpacking that's just as good or sometimes better. Take advantage of coupon codes or if you qualify for Guidefitter or GovX. I bought a used K2 3500 in 2017 or 2018 and its been flawless, think i've packed out 8 elk and close to 20 deer with it and its still works just fine, only reason i mention that is because you don't need new high end gear to be successful.

Oh man. So much. Definitely not something I want to think about. My rifle alone makes me a little ill once I start to add up base rifle, plus optics, plus rings, plus stock, plus can....

if you're looking at actual numbers:

I'm probably in the 12k range right now inclusive of a stable of options for multiple seasons/conditions. Probably be at 15k by the time my customized rifle is done (this is a want, NOT a need). Most of this is assembled over the last 10 years, some inherited from before that.
I'm kind of a gearhead so this includes high end stuff like hilleberg tents, clothes a'la patagucci, arcteryx, kuiu, etc. I buy on ebay and craigslist when I can and wait for sales but I buy a couple pieces a year. Don't really own any alpha glass though, only really mid-tier.

~$2,500 of that is 'cross functional' camping outside stuff. Same as I use for any other backpacking or camping trip.
- tent
- sleep system
- stove & pot
- boots
- trekking poles
- gaiters
- hiking clothes
- shell jacket
- puffy jacket

~$1700 of that is hunting specific basics, no frills:
killed an elk and 6 or 7 deer with this before getting fancy
- basic rifle, low end scope
- binoculars (no chest pack, just a basic harness)
- game bags
- knife

got another ~$4,000 of hunting nice-to-haves that I didn't own for my first 10 years:
-spotting scope
-tripod
-rangefinder
-suppressor
-bino harness
- meat hauling pack

I absolutely think that if you include glass and weapon, it's pretty easy to find yourself in the 10-15k range. Good call with the stuff that gets extra mileage for non-hunting camping. That's how I justify my gear too. Also worth pointing out that adding up msrp of items is a little misleading once you account for anything that gets multiple years of use.

Lol I dunno how much I can justify my stuff, the gear love... It's a sickness... 😜

But hopefully OP already has some of this stuff and takes away that you might need to spend 1k to get going but you don't need to spend 10k to get started. In fact it's better to get started and get some experience to help figure out what to get to match your needs and preferences.

I did my first backpack hunt with $100 Cabela's backpack and 10year old hand-me-down backpack equipment. Clapped out rain gear and puffy. Had a good time. Slowly worked up from there.

I share the sickness...
But, definitely do-able without a ton of cash. Not sure if OP was looking for what guys have spent vs what someone starting out needs to spend. I was looking at it more from the perspective of a somewhat dialed in list that someone has built over some time. I remember the first time I watched some gear list video on youtube and started doing the math on all the Swarovski optics the guy laid out. oof.
