Just got this Email.

Downgrade Fee Removed
GARMIN®
Connext Billing Update
We’ve Removed Annual Plan Downgrade Fees
Good news! Garmin no longer charges fees for downgrades of an annual subscription plan.

Effective immediately, subscribers may now upgrade or downgrade between annual inReach® satellite subscription plans without additional fees.

Previously, a $24.95 fee applied to a downgrade.

How does it work?
Any upgrade or downgrade of an annual inReach subscription plan will take effect immediately, and your account will be credited or charged on a prorated basis for any applicable monthly fee price difference within 24 hours of the plan change. Your monthly bill date and your annual plan renewal date will not change.

That's actually pretty sweet. But tbh i didnt mind paying the fee considering I only active it for about half the year. Hopefully they dont in response raise the prices on the backend

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't the downgrade fee only apply if you were on an annual plan? I don't remember that fee applying to the freedom plan, just the annual fee which isn't mentioned above. Hopefully them adding flexibility to the annual plan doesn't mean the freedom plan is on the way out the door...

One of these years I may have to upgrade my GPS, but for now it just keeps on working and does what I expect it to do. Don't need any plans from them, or fees.

This is out there for new customers too (note, does not apply to suspended plans, sigh, but does for cancelled plans lol):

United States and Canadian Customers:
Activate an inReach device from Sep 20, 2019 through Oct 20, 2019, and Garmin will waive the monthly fee of any satellite subscription plan for your first full month of service.
To redeem your offer, enter promotion code INREACH19 at device activation.
