I’m in the same boat with my magneto speed. Reading these posts just confirms- it’s time to upgrade to the Garmin.
This was me. Got a magnetospeed, used it for about a year just as Garmin came out with their chrono, and I jumped on board as soon as possible. I could barely resell the magneto.

The Garmin is awesome! I use it a lot for both archery and rifles.

I've used a garmin a few times, it's "whatever." Definitely lighter and much (MUCH) more convenient than an original labradar, but still misses about the same percentage of shots, in my experience.

If I already had a labradar, I wouldn't upgrade. If I wanted to buy new, I'd get an athlon. If I already bought a garmin, I'd be plenty happy with it

I went from a magnetospeed to the Garmin; and to me it’s awesome, totally worth it. Picks up all my shots. Easy to use. App stores the session data on my phone. Don’t have to dick with what size spacer to use and if it works with various barrel/can setups. Or pistols for that matter.

The Garmin gets a thumbs up from me.

Maybe the new release copycat from Athlon will bring the price down some.

I bought one today. Also had a chance to use a buddy's today. Sure was easy to use and set up.
Today the Garmin gave me a velocity of 2870 out of my 6.5 PRC. Previously I measured a speed of 3000 with the Magneto. I also shot my 308 which the Garmin read as 2780. Previously with the Magneto I measured 2770. The difference between the two is interesting. I'll have to shoot my 6.5 CM with the Gamin. I've shot the CM with the Magneto and my Pro Chrono before and essentially had the same speed. If I really want to geek out, I could shoot with all three.
