Just ordered mine. This is a great deal if you’re looking for a garmin watch . I have been looking for a replacement for my Fenix 6 that starting to give me some problems.

I will let you know when mine shows up. My wife has the epix 2. From what I have seen from hers, the epix has a shorter battery life which I didn’t want.

How does it compare to Epix 2?

Its almost exactly the same features as the Epix 2. But it has the MIP display and battery lasts 2-3 times longer! And most important for most garmin watch guys, is the sapphire display and DLC bezel. This means it takes a heck of a lot more to scratch either. Stick with the Epix 2 if you like the bright AMOLED display, or go with the Fenix 7 Sapphire if you want something considerably more rugged with better battery life.

How does it compare to Epix 2?

They are very similar with all the features. The main difference I see is the screen. The epix face is a lot brighter and it can’t be as low lit as the fenix 7. To save power on the epix it gets set to gesture mode so it lights up when your hand is raised. I like that the 7 is always on and it doesn’t drain the battery.
I almost bought the epix 2 from eurooptic for $300, but I am much happier with the fenix 7.

It’s the 47mm face. I had the 6x pro with the 51 and it’s a large watch if you’re not used to it. The slightly smaller face is still easy read, especially the map. I use the map often as a quick reference while hiking.

Interested in this watch but have no idea about any garmin or gps watch. Can you plan your route on it and follow your trails etc like you can with the various phone apps? Ideally I'd like to just use this watch for routes and planning and leave my phone in my pocket so I can just look at my wrist as I trek.

YES! i will plan my route on google earth, then export it to Garmin explore.(or you can just build the route in explore) It then syncs to my watch. during the route, it shows a map with an arrow pointing in the direction you need to go. AND it will vibrate when you get off route. Its pretty slick.
