I’ve always used Koola buck treated game bags, but I see a ton of untreated options. Is there a significant benefit to using treated bags, especially in warmer weather, or is it snake oil?

Treated with what?

I like the caribou gear bags best out of what I have used.
Citric acid? Magic? No clue but it’s supposed to prevent spoilage, I have two August archery hunts in northern Nevada so I’m trying to figure if they’re worth hauling around.

Treated game bags will not stop spoilage. That happens from the inside and then works it way out. Just use lightweight bags and carry some powder citric acid and a spray bottle. This will mostly help with flies until you get it into a bag. I have never worried about flies so I don’t carry citric acid. I hang the quarters on a game pole or tree branches until it gets a skin on it then I bag them. If any flies lay eggs I just knock them off or maybe trim a little at that spot. My biggest concern is the bees. They can take a lot of meat off in a surprisingly short amount of time.
