Old topic, but why not a G29 with G20 mags with a shelve? Makes the G20 mag fit flush with the grip

End up with short barrel of G29 and grip of a g20
Nothing wrong with them. They were mentioned at least twice earlier in this thread. I have a couple, different brand but the same thing.

Sub compact pistols are extremely difficult to shoot accurately. Taking your time, focusing on grip and squeezing the trigger at the range is very different then quickly drawing a pistol and putting rounds into the head of a charging grizzly bear.
If it wasn't so cartoonishly long, I would say the G40 is where its at.

This thread has been helpful in trying to make this decision as well as comparing Glock to M&P 10mm.

Any additional feedback after a few years time??

I have the G29 for about a year and half now. It's easy to conceal carry with a clipdraw which is a clip that bolts to the back of the slide. I can slip it into my waist belt and go.

I also have an alien gear modular holster but any holster that can attach to molle will allow you to attach it to your marsupial. I set my up with the grip facing out so it doesn't interfere with bending over (which it did before).

Lastly I found the stock grip to leave my pinky hanging out like I'm sipping a cocktail. For 10 round mags you can get a Pearce Grip PG-1045 that increases capacity by two rounds and allows for a full grip. For my 15 round clips, I have a X-Grip that extends the grip even further and allows the 15 mag to work.

Overall, the 29 can be hard to shoot. Play with your grip to figure it out. Definitely get the grip extension. The clipdraw is handy for quickly clipping the gun to almost anything so it stays with you. I changed out the stock for white sights that are easy to see anytime. I'm happy with it. Don't get any 3rd party mags, it'll jam, never had a problem with Glock mags.

See attached photos.

I have and carry both. Most people are going to struggle to get acceptable accuracy out of the g29 with hot loads. My g29 has a RMR on it, might help some folks.

Have a 4th gen G20 and wish it was easy enough to get an optics ready slide to try it with optics without machining my only slide.

It rides really well behind my bino case in a Venandi bino holster.

Started with a 20 and quickly switched to a 29. The 20 is a big bitch. The 29 isn't small by any means. It's almost the same size as a 19

I carry the g20 3rd gen in a chest pack while fishing in Grizzly country, big and heavy, though. If you can shoot a g29 decently, that’s what I’d do.

I use a Leupold micro on my G40 gen 4 even though mine is mos I didn’t want a big red dot sight. It fastens in the dovetail after you remove the rear sight. I’ve shot it out to 50 yards and was happy with the performance.

I'm in the same boat on a quest for a new 10mm reading through a discussion that's been going since February 2021. A ton of good info here and it seems like a win win with either and all dependent on purpose and preference. Which one did you end up choosing?
