Frozen Lake Michigan

So to break up the winter blas I took the family over to lake Michigan to walk on the big water and climb the ice mountains, very cool stuff, I have lived in Michigan most of my like and have never went the 1 1/2 hours to the lake in the winter, I have been missing out, the kids loved it.

be careful ! I grew up in Michigan City And remember hearing of people falling through the ice about every other year. Apparently the way the waves sort of freeze in place can create sort of sheltered areas that hide thin ice.
Having said that we used to do it most years as well particularly in the late 70 s and early 80s when we had very cold winters

Ya, we made sure there were plenty of people out there before we went on the ice, probably the last week for safe ice on the big lake.

I fell through Lake Erie on a ice fishing adventure when I was young. Ya I got your ice bucket challenge....
