fishing is supposed to be relaxing—right?

Thanks!

I have a tenkara rod (telescoping fly rod w/ no reel) that I typically use for high mountain lakes, but knowing it was tough to get in, didn't want to come up short casting wise‚ so brought my little four piece spinning outfit. Hindsight being 20:20, I think I would have been fine with the tenkara rod, but probably wouldn't have got as many fish as I did with the spinning rod—simply due to how far I can cast with the spinning rod.

Those little Kastmasters cast a lot further than one would imagine for a 1/12 oz lure :)

Good to see other people enjoying that lake. You want to catch the big ones get there right when the ice is leaving. Satellite images makes it’s easy now for timing. Theres a trail right to the lake you may find on your next trip there.

Thanks for sharing and opening up the old memory box!

I've definitely done some hard hikes to find a dead lake. I've also done some hard hikes to find lakes with fish that may not have been fished in at least several years. Sometimes you just have to go to find out.

Spent the weekend doing a more sure-fire version of what you did! Took a buddy who doesn’t fish to a blue ribbon cut throat fishery, hiked up 5k elevation just to sleep in a thunderstorm. Didnt get much fishing in but had a blast and will definitely be back!

Side note, just bought an 8’6”orvis clearwater fly rod. Sticking to rubber leg patterns for ease but fly fishing isn’t a fraction as hard as I expected it to be. Multiple 15”+ fish landed already. I still carry spinning gear

Sounds like a hell of a hike with even better reward.

Completely off topic, but does anyone else have issues seeing pics from mtwarden? I can see images from every other poster on the Slide, but not him. They just show image file names. Tried other browsers, too. Feel like I'm missing out on some great photography.

Same for me as well.

^ Thanks :)

@robby denning any idea why @Yooper and @Duckhunterbrad can't see the pics, obviously it looks like most folks can?????
I'm sorry but no clue. I'm editor, not IT. They should check on another device and make sure they're logged in.

This was happening about a week ago, so I tagged @Jskaanland. (see post #30 above John if you see this) Never heard if he did anything. but the complaints stopped.

I love it! It's great when gambles like that pay off! I've taken some wild hair adventures that didn't pay off, but the ones that did really stick in a guy's mind. Thanks for sharing this!
