I have a tenkara rod (telescoping fly rod w/ no reel) that I typically use for high mountain lakes, but knowing it was tough to get in, didn't want to come up short casting wise‚ so brought my little four piece spinning outfit. Hindsight being 20:20, I think I would have been fine with the tenkara rod, but probably wouldn't have got as many fish as I did with the spinning rod—simply due to how far I can cast with the spinning rod.
Those little Kastmasters cast a lot further than one would imagine for a 1/12 oz lure
