A little off topic… but one other tip is to NOT plug your freezers into GFCI outlets. Those tend to trip more than actual circuit breakers in the box. A lot of newer homes have them by code in garages… if need be, just replace them with regular outlets (assuming you know how to do that without electrocuting yourself!). It is also possible to GFCI-protect downstream “regular” outlets from an upstream GFCI… so even if it looks normal it may still function like a GFCI.

I have a YoLink brand from Amazon. Can configure the alarm set points however you like.

It’s on Wi-Fi and my router is on a ups that should last a couple hours assuming the cable internet stays up. If we were on cell internet it would be a little more robust.

Range from transmitter to the base receiver is pretty impressive, couple hundred feet for sure. Works well for us. Bought it because our new upright is easy to leave the door cracked and cost us a little when we first got it.

Second the suggestion to put it on a non-GFCI circuit.

Thanks for all your input. Some great options listed here. I’ll make a decision based off these options this week.

Yeah. But if you’re in Hawaii and no family or friends nearby, well, you’re screwed anyways! haha

But I get the gist! Many years ago we lost a whole freezer full when power went out. 🤮

I live in a small town so if I couldn't get a hold any of my friends to help me out then I'm assuming the world ended and I've got bigger problems than the status of my freezer.

If you’re out of town and the alarm is on WiFi and the neighborhood power goes out, how will it let you know?
that's why you put your modem, router & optical network terminal on a small UPS so you still have internet access when the power goes out. Only way this won't work is if your internet provider is also experiencing an outage!

I have the AcuRite one off amazon. Run lithium batteries in the sensors. The displays are outside my freezer room so I can hear the alarm. Also they keep tabs on the high/low so I can see if anything warmed up and then refroze.
Would only work if your home and listening for the alarm.
