If I recall correctly, Ryan Calleghan got a citation for crossing railroad property while upland hunting with his dog. It may not be enforced where you are at, but that doesn't make it legal or okay to do.
95% of "laws" are retarded, immoral, and made by spiritually immoral people. I'll stick to the 10 commandments.

Innocent people don't need or want to delay court dates. Safe bet he's guilty as he**. Gives him time to make up more evidence videos.

Last one was just an arraignment, I’m guessing the next one is where we start seeing delay tactics.

The checkerboarded land is not located near any rail system and will never be used. It's useless land for them and for the public. Thus the problem with checkerboarding. If I had to cross a corner of RR land I wouldn't have any moral issues with it. I accept all consequences of trespassing. I just know when I trespass I: a/won't get caught or b/if I did it would be a non issue. It's simple math. Same reason I would shed hunt out of "season"...I know I can do it without consequences and it's not a moral issue for me even as a Christian.

I hate to side bar from the subject at hand here but that is quite the narcissistic trait to assume that only rules/laws you like apply to you and not all others. Easy to justify doing anything you want to do when it is only your "moral compass" that matters. Rules for thee but not for me, etc.

Great looking pup though.

The issue is not that he’s on YouTube. The issue is he’s a repeat offender, who also has repeatedly taken questionable shots at animals and has a channel that exposes many new hunters or non hunters to his unethical behavior. When people who know nothing or little about hunting see his videos, or these news articles it can cause them to view all hunters in a negative way. As hunters we need to police unethical behaviors within our ranks. Being glad that someone who has repeatedly trespassed got caught isn’t an awful thing. It’s being happy our justice system works and they will face consequences for their actions.

To be blunt it seems like you weighed in on this topic not knowing the full details. Now you’re trying to back track while maintaining that you were right. Yes his family will be negatively effected by this. But that’s his fault and he shouldn’t get a pass because of it.

Also he’s not a young man, he’s 36. That means he’s too old to be drafted and he’s old enough to be president.

Come on now, you know the title “YouTuber” has a negative connotation w many here. And from my perspective, some appear to be taking pleasure in his downfall. To me that’s lower behavior than trespassing, if we’re gonna gradate things, which we shouldn’t btw.

Maybe a bit. However, he hasn’t been convicted and he gets benefit of the doubt until that happens.

Haha. He is young to me.

"Taking pleasure" from someone getting what they deserve is LEGAL. Trespassing and poaching isn't. There lies the difference.
I don't take pleasure in this guy getting what he deserves, I just want him to go away.

I get what you are saying and I agree that until convicted, people should hold back. At the same time….when you have done the exact same thing two times before, been caught and convicted, is it really that big of a stretch…

The guy isn’t helping himself and didn’t help himself the last time. Did you watch the video I posted? His defense was basically,
1. I didn’t trespass. Proven wrong by the state.
2. Well it wasn’t properly marked. Proven wrong by the state.
3. The state is singling me out because I am “famous.” State proved to be consistent.
4. The land manager is running a smear campaign to help a competitor. Proven wrong by the witness.
5. This is my living and I can’t feed my family. Don’t make dumb choices…?
6. I have contemplated suicide over this. I have no answer for that.

1-3 I have zero problem trying but when the state proves all of that wrong, lick your wounds and move on. Don’t start the blame game.

I hope he is found innocent in Idaho but if he isn’t, I hope they throw the book at him.

If something like that happened he would walk away with much more than only a DUI.

Nobodies trying to say DUI isn't bad. His comparisons still appropriate in my opinion. Man this thread sucked me in. Dangit.
I would say a more appropriate comparison would be getting multiple speeding tickets and losing your job/license, not DUI.

Railroad companies own all kinds of land checkerboarded with USFS. I'll most certainly trespass on it if I feel like it. And what's the big deal with a gun on railroad property? No one cares about railroads. Why do you care about railroads?
Hey man. I'm just informing you. If you want to get a felony trespass, go to the pen and be someone's girlfriend for a few years its no skin off my nose.

Same comparison...broke the law while doing his job. Got caught. The punishment is the punishment. Shouldn't matter if it is your lively hood or not.

We got to tread lightly here folks. It’s a miracle we kept the thread open this long

Agree. Beginning to wonder if this belongs in the GD forum. I’m not complaining, hopefully it’s showing others what NOT to do and can fall under the educational category for Mule Deer hunting.

Like a “Posted” sign for property … maybe Muley Freak is meant to be posted sign … a warning for others to not ever follow that path.

Sounds like you didn’t watch all 7 hours of the Utah case. Unfortunately I did. He trespassed several times, was told to leave on one occasion, came back a year later and flung arrows at three different elk. In near tears, he was suspended for 2 years from hunting (revenue generation for his family aside, which I can see cause for emotion) it’s a slap on the wrist. He posted that video evidence of his crime. he was proud of what he did and thought there wouldn’t be repercussions. So to summarize it wasn’t a mistake, it was several with warning, with opportunities to drop it, and he just keeps at it. AND NOW HE DID IT AGAIN.

I picked up squirrel hunting this past year it was a lot of fun. On a few chunks of public land, the squirrels are smarter, more on edge. He just wants to hunt private game and brag about his prowess. If he has to do this for his business, pay someone to hunt private. And deal with the backlash for hunting private, at least that’s not illegal.
