Forloh BTM Pant review posted ---> now traveling pants to try

Looks like maybe a typo in the review. It mentions the wax bar as included initially, then later mentioned the wax bar as sold separately.

To bad this wasn't a week earlier during their sale. Id probably have bought some pants.

Interesting to read about the bottom cuff issues and the gaitor clip in development. While functional, that has been a failure point of the Kuiu brush pants. It also makes the pants uncomfortable to wear without boots on (crocs post hunt)

Thanks for the review!
Thanks!

@sndmn11 are both true? or a typo. Please clarify and lmk approx where in the article both places are.

How does the fit/cut of these compare to
Fjallraven? Not sure I dig the baseball pant style fit for hunting.
I think the correct term is brush resistant yoga pants.

You guys think I can get a logo sewn on the seat that says "sassy" or "beach patrol" ?

The 36" Keb pants were too small, these are a 38" and were snugger in the waist quite a bit (good fitting for my 36" waist) everywhere else similar or slightly snugger to my 36" BTM.

These pics are just regular boxer briefs. I believe all, or at least most, of the BTM pictures in the review I have a merino base layer on.

You'll have to PM me the movie so I can catch up on the context....

Thank you. Appreciate you doing that.

So your preference for fit is Forloh? How does quality/weight compare?

We play honesty in reviews at Rokslide; frankly, I'm behind the 8-ball on the Kebs. I didn't even know they had stores until 7 hours ago and had never tried them on.

If you asked me would I trade the BTMs right now for the Kebs based on fit, I would not. If you have me a pair of Kebs to try, I'd give them a fair shot, they weren't uncomfortable and were stretchy enough they weren't restrictive.

The Kebs felt very thin in the non-paneled areas, and the G1000 paneling was stiff. I tried on the Vida Pro pant, which I believe is all G1000 (pics below) and it had no chance of comfort. The G1000 material is no stretch at all. The girl said they were the same cut of pant but the main difference being the non reinforced areas.

I don't know what the G1000 material offers in the world of abrasion/puncture resistance. It is a poly/cotton versus the Forloh BTM nylon/cotton. My history in textiles leads me to prefer nylon for strength and abrasion. For the purpose of upland bird hunting, I would have a very hard time believing the Kebs would equal the BTM in pokey resistance, and they felt similar to the typical hunting pant I sought to replace at the start of this search. I could be wrong since it was a 45 second photo shoot, but I'm not shopping for upland pants anymore.

This is a good read of direct comparison.

I believe Fjallraven shows me a size 36. I’m a 34-35” waist.
The BTMs I have are size 36, if you think you would plan on wearing these pants with a base underwear and your top base layer tucked in, the 36 would be a good choice. I can mail you these to try out if that is your use case.

If it is not, i'd size down on the BTM to a 32.

we don't like it when people derail a good thread but if you're gonna derail a good thread, that is the perfect meme for it  :ROFLMAO::LOL::ROFLMAO:
You should institute a buy the product tonpost the meme in the review thread policy because @TSAMP is who these are targeted at.

@TSAMP what size do you wear? Maybe @Jason Snyder can send them to you after he tries them out.

6' 180#, Athletic Build, 32x32 standard size in most pants.

I have multiple pants from both entities, and in a standard 32x32 size:

1. Fjallraven across the board fit absurdly tight through the butt and crotch, and ride a little low on the waist in general for my particular preference. I actually think the previously-described "thin" feel of the Fjallraven pants versus the Forloh pants is a plus, but I run incredibly hot and stuffy.

2. Forloh fit absurdly loose through the waist, and a little loose through the thighs. These are absolutely top tier quality pants, I would put the finish quality above Fjallraven.

I will also say, neither of them really bother me or get thought about after 15 minutes of "doing" whatever. They seem to do better once "warmed up".

Here in the PNW my go-to forestry pants in the West Side Jungle for the last couple years have been the Vidda Pro Ventilated after @mxgsfmdpx recommendation in a different thread long ago. They replaced my Carhartt double fronts in that capacity. I picked up some BTM Pro's after @Formidilosus write up about his gear and Fjallraven Keb's in particular, as I wanted a USA alternative and wasn't content with the fit of Fjallraven's in the upper region. They have replaced my Kuiu Pro Pant and First Lite Corrugate Foundry.

Having been on the receiving end of IP theft, I understand the general disdain for Forloh copying Fjallraven blatantly. Having been on the beneficiary end of patent expiration, I also understand imitation is a form of flattery.

You can't go wrong with either brand, both are top notch gear with their lemons and quirks, but you're most likely going to have to dial in the sizing either way. Fjallraven stores offer free tailoring if you buy in store, and then ship to your house. I have never been to a Forloh store to be able to comment on if they offer similar.

I recommend both brands wholeheartedly.

Yes. Fjallraven should have never changed their fit in the thighs/seat/crotch. This happened in the last couple years and it’s unfortunate.
