I have the older style of these. Only thing they lack is length on me. I'm 6'4" ish, but I'm always in gaiters if I have these on anyway.
Great for November deer and elknhunts as well.

They had those at 50% off for a day before the holidays and I saw it before my run then forgot about it for a few days.

. Not sure when we decided to make things difficult, and expensive…

Ha! Gas is the big expense, but it's been worth it to bang away at pointed birds that get pinned down by a mutt puppy

Mid to late season. I’ve wore them for 23 days this season. They have kept my legs dry in wet, frosty, and snowy brush. The price made it a hard pill to swallow, but I’m glad I did it.
FL sawbucks for the early season.

Still deciding. It sounds like you guys are shooting at roosters that aren't pointed; that's not really in our game plan.

Are the chief upland pants a different material than FL corrugated?

I have the corrugate foundry that I wear for big game. Are these the ones that you’re talking about?
If so, yes the legs are actually waterproof vs the corrugate that only have the waterproofing in the knees and seat.

I’m confused now. We have wild roosters. Your brown mutt pins them down tight. What’s the issue?

If we hunt with folks that shoot any wild flushed rooster it defeats reinforcing that she only gets the reward if she points it. No point, no shot. It's why I sometimes hunt with who I hunt with and the differences in mindset being out trying to kill any way, versus being out for the dog and bond.

Well I’ll tell you what. You bring out brown mutt that pins them down and I will only shoot those pointed birds! If they point and the birds run and flush we won’t shoot them. Sounds fun!

For pokey proof, filson double tins, but they are obnoxious in every other way. Dan's briarproof are almost as protective, but much more pleasant to wear. Just keep in mind that they have zero stretch, so sizing is important

Used the Fjallraven Kebs for elk/deer this fall and am now using them for upland, and like them much more than the previous brush pants, work pants, and hunting pants I've used in the past for upland since they seem to be a great combination of all three.

1) 90% pokey proof (very pokey proof in the waxed canvas, somewhat in the stretchy fabric)
2) 90% waterproof (100% in the canvas when properly waxed, and the stretchy fabric still breathes which is a great combination)
3) has zipper vents (has them, but no mesh which I actually prefer with zip-off base layers)
4) comfortable (the stretchy portions make these as comfortable as kuiu attack pants)
5) Bonus - integrated gaiter hook so you don't need separate gaiters most of the time

I also used a pair of Fjall pants for hunting. They held up pretty well to the beating that oak brush can dish out.

I'm more curious if it's a genuine helpful step, or somewhat gimmicky and doesn't accomplish much.

I got them from a buddy up in Denver that uses them almost daily and he stated it was a necessary evil. Personally, I don’t have that kind of time to or effort to put into a pair of pants. I am getting ready to send them to a buddy in Ohio.
