So recently I was in Colorado and when I flew home my bow case did not come with me. I received it a couple days later but in the meantime it was a couple anxious days wondering where it was.

So my question is what sort of duffle could I use to put my case in? I’ve heard that it’s a visual thing with TSA and airport employees. So next time I’d like to eliminate all that if possible.

If it's just a visual thing by any big duffel that it will fit in. I have one of those big waterproof Kuiu bags with the shoulder straps I throw my pack and other gear in to keep it all together. But for the bow I would just buy anything that covers it.

I have only had the experience traveling with a pistol/rifle in addition to my bow. So I have to have it in a locked hard case and never had an issue. I'm pretty sure they are extra careful not to lose a firearm, but I'm sure it has happened.

Yeah I have an SKB hard case that I flew with. I was pretty freaked out when it didn’t show up with me at my home airport.

I use a hard rifle case. Gut the foam and place all your hunting clothes and other gear inside the rifle case around your bow. I load it to the max wt the airlines allows for 1 bag. It isn't cheap flying and every bag you can load to the max will save extra baggage fees.

Agree
I had a “lost” bag returning from Alaska. It became unlost very quickly when I mentioned it contained a handgun.

How does the Sitka Nomad differ from a regular large rolling case? I looked at pictures and is doesn’t look armored or significantly padded. It has some straps, but I didn’t see anything that made me feel comfortable sending my bow in the bag or spending that much money. Honestly, my first thought when I looked at it was, “gee that looks like a $100 suitcase with a Sitka logo, some straps, and 400% markup”. I’m traveling with a Prime Hybrid this year, and my old travel case is too short, so I am going to end up buying an SKB or one of these rolling duffels.

I will look at. I have an SKB hard case. However people at the airport look at that and make judgements. So I’m looking for something big enough to put my SKB case inside. That way the majority of people will just think it’s a normal piece of luggage. I almost lost my bow on my way back from Denver last month and I want to try and avoid that in the future. It was opened and rummaged through by TSA.
