This may have been discussed at length before but I cannot find a thread on it. I’m flying out to Colorado from Michigan next month to work with Tom Sr. at RMSG and to attend at least day of the Compton Big Game Classic. I’m bringing a two-piece 58” Toelke Whistler with me but I’ve never flown with trad gear.

I’m looking at a hard case from Far North to travel with. Does anyone have experience with this type of case? I’m only traveling over a three day period and I know I have to check the case at check-in.

How do you guys pack your stuff and what’s your horror stories?

I use a soft padded takedown case, with fleece sleeves . I then place the bow in a duffle with clothing or soft items around it.
I haven’t had an issue.
I find arrows to be more of a pita to pack.
Again , Hard arrow case in a duffle.
I used a wheeled snowboard case once , that was annoying as everything taco’d to the bottom . No horror stories

I fly with surfboards annually. Pool noodles , cut in half; are great insurance for any hard items , taped with clean removal duct tape - which makes a serviceable repair tape.
