Flying question

Good evening,
Normally I’d fly with a dedicated hard gun case, but really don’t want to juggle extra bags. Does anyone seeing this being an issue. I’d obviously fill up more of the dead space, but if I could check just this and carry on my pack with optics it would make life a lot easier on the return trip

That's the only way I've ever done it. Pack all sorts of stuff around the gun, each bag has a 50lb limit.

That's how I've always done it. As long as it's less than the airline weight limit, you're good.

You're doing it the only way I know. Remove the foam from case, load up your clothing and accessories, and then insert the guns. Never had an issue, including international travel recently to Scotland where British Airways specifically says to avoid having clothing in the gun case.

some of my cases don't even have foam at all in them, I just use bulkier clothing pad the gun.

Be careful with Delta however, they have a policy that only the gun and “gun related items” be in your gun case. On more than one occasion, I have been forced to remove clothing and boots for them to check the firearm.
