Draw length of the bow is fine. With your short axle bow you want a longer draw on the bow and shorter loop so your head stays up for nose to string contact.
Adjust your loop length for your bow arm rotation. If you're not seeing the pin movement you want, you change the loop to grip throat relationship;ie you move the loop up/down the string and set your rest height AFTER the loop location is set.

That's terrible advice. Your DL is your DL. it doesn't change with what ATA of a bow you shoot. You want to touch your nose to the string get a longer bow...

Proper draw length is what keeps your head up at full draw, your back straight, shoulders set right with good back tension, and the smallest pin float at full draw. Your nose touching the string is not necessary if your anchor point is well defined. OP, for a thumb release, I recommend anchoring behind the bony prominence of the rear of your jaw with your first knuckle. Anchoring behind your ear will lead to bad form in that you will have to open your stance, lean back, and/or drop your bow shoulder in most cases. You can shoot plenty accurate like that, but you will really notice a difference on uneven terrain and long distances.

Of the two sets of pics, the 28 inch mods fit you best. 27.5 would be even better with a few twists in the cables to get you exactly 28 since you don't use a grip. I would then set your d loop length long enough to get consistent anchors behind your jaw. I won't judge your form from your pics because they don't show enough of you at full draw, but it does look like your leaning back in both pics.

If all you got is 28 inch mods, you can make the 28 inch mods work by taking twists out of the cables and putting twists in your string. This will increase ATA, decrease DW, but get your measured DL to 28.

In my opinion, most guys just want to shoot consistently and have fun. Not everyone cares about winning tournaments. If that describes you as well, put them 28 inch mods on, shoot with whatever form makes you comfortable and accurate enough to your satisfaction, and enjoy yourself. If you want to take it up a notch, post up pics of yourself at full draw from the side and rear where we can see you from head to toe. Be sure to aim for a target at bow height.

I've got 28 and 28.5" mods, I could purchase some 27.5" mods, but with the 28" mods I can't get my first knuckle behind my jaw (which is where I typically hold with a wrist strap release, behind my ear is a poor choice of words). If I extend my left arm completely with the 28" mod I can't get my right hand anchored anywhere close to behind my jaw. If I use the 28.5" mod it's a little better, I still feel like I'm leaning my head forward some though. I'll take some pics and a video tomorrow. I am not a tournament archer, but I want to be as consistent as possible.

Sorry for the crappy pics, these were taken by my 4 year old

The 28" DL picture is a little weird because she took the picture before I leveled my sight out. That's the best one outta the 20 or so she took though, lol.

28 looks the best. 28.5 has your torso starting noticeably leaning back. That is going to hurt your accuracy on shots in uneven terrain or from a treestand. A true 28 inch DL would likely be even better. Take a couple of twists out of both cables and try that.

Freaking a, well I'm in the process of picking up a CST with a 2 cam so hopefully I can get it figured out soon.

its not a huge issue. Untwist your cables a little or twist up your string and you can get the 28" mods where you need them. Your just getting a little to much face contact.. With that said shortening it you will most likely have to lengthen your D loop just a hair

The string already has 3 twists in it. I'll just pick up some 27.5" mods and play around.

OK so your DL is about 1/2 too long. From the pics I see of you close up, it may not be not the fletch that is hitting your face. Its your D LOOP tag or the ball end of the loop. In one pic you can clearly see that red line in your face is directly in line with the little tag/ball on the d loop.

Just for giggles, tie it on the OPPOSITE direction you have it tied in now, and with a 27.5" or 28" DL. Ill put $20 on it that it solves your issue and you'll have a better pin float at 27.5 than you think you would.
