Good times for sure. I had some funky cow call that used a rubber band sandwiched between plastic. It never did bring elk running my way, but I stalked up on this one to a 40 yard shot. 1988, first elk and I have hunted every year since.

Central Co. and 500 yards off the road.

This was 2002, next elk and it was a dandy 6x. Borrowing the VFD brush fire rig for retrieving.

Also 2002, buddy got a cow last day, same Mt.

I'm going back a little further ... to 1978. I tracked this Montana bull for 5 hours and got a snap shot in the late afternoon at 150 yards or so. Probably one of my best shots. The mountain was so steep I had to tie him down to keep him there. He was 9 1/2 miles from the road and it took us 2 days to get him out.

Also, here's a photo of my buck. One of the few times I was able to fill both tags on my combo license.

Here is my first buck and oldest whitetail pic from 1997. I was damn proud of that little basket 8 pointer. Made a bad shot, hitting him in front of the shoulder, but got lucky and severed the carotid and jugular in front of the heart with NAP Thunderhead 100.

The second is my current personal best whitetail (gross 160 5/8") shot way back in 2002. This was an impromptu spot and stalk hunt after I spotted him with some does in a thick switchgrass creek bottom about a quarter mile below my treestand location. I was able to crawl, log roll, and sneak to within 30 yards for the shot. Another NAP Thunderhead 100 kill.

Both were shot with an old Browning compound and aluminum Easton arrows.
