How many guys still wearing traditional flannel lined clothing instead of spending big bucks on fancy gear, curious to what you choose. I’m wearing my flannel lined jeans and wool shoots on a early season elk hunt and having a lighter set of clothes in bag as well? Anyone else

I still wear my flannel jacket a lot when I'm stand hunting during rifle and muzz. I love keeping it real in the day of the kool kid kamo revolution.

No. There is a very practical application for synthetics and technical fabrics...moisture management.

I like flannel, just not on a hunt or hike. Nostalgia is fine but don’t let it unnecessarily hinder your time outside.

i don't spend big bucks on hunting clothing. I buy the least expensive quick drying clothing in different weights I can (yes walmart and if I have enough cabelas points what ever the most inexpensive brand is they have on sale) and it works great. If I could get it cheaper because it is in drab colors rather than camo I would. Camo makes no difference hunting it is just a selling point to make hunters feel like they are doing something special.

no cotton
wally world synthetic or army surplus wool.
camo-only if on sale. [ but I prefer to avoid it]

I will add this- early on [back in 84 -89] there was some serious weather and I and my bud had jeans. after putting on stove pipes for a week I switched to wool. and a year later he did too.
one of my most miserable hunts was recently with fleece pants. there was several days of rain and sleet . they were warm till it rained and then held water like cotton. I sat in the tipi with the stove roaring trying to dry them out [ and failed] so I went back to wool pants.
