Reading this brought back memories of the 70's, We wore fishnet long johns snowmobiling back then. I was a kid so I could not tell what they were made of, but they worked well. I will admit we also wore nylons and they worked great. I know here it comes.I was stationed at Mcmurdo, all the Navy had was cotton, very little poly. we froze our butts off on some days. I was an undergrad student at the University of Minnesota in the early 70s. My buddies and I were happily camping at temperatures that kept the poorly equipped at home or in the ER for amputations. Every time I saw a Navy ROTC cadet on campus with bright red ears under those ridiculous brimmed hats they had to wear even in January, I was angry at the lack of common sense in the logistics chain.
