Fishnet base layers. They work, and you want them.

could it be an issue of how tight they are under the next base layer?
Do you guys wear a large under an x-large? Or a large under a large? To be clear I don’t have any experience with them, just wondering out loud.

When Varusteleka used to sell them on their site, they had pictures of two guys with different body shapes and sizes for a size reference. One of the guys was pretty solid, what I guess most would have assessed as a 'muscular medium', yet the caption said he was wearing a size small. This is also the size that they suggested in their size chart. I'm a straight medium in most things, and the small fit well. For whatever that is worth ...

In any case, I just wear the small (as per Varusteleka recommendations) under medium other layers, and it functions well.

Would be interesting to see if the sizing recommedation from Varuste (different site that still stock them and have regular sales and fast shipping) is different.

What are yall doing to cause this? My first Aclima top from 2019 is still functional-hundreds of days of use on it. The bottoms only got replaced due to getting snagged in the washer. I am around 10-15 people that use them and no one is getting unexpected wear.
This is my left arm in the Aclima after packing a deer out last fall. I either took my overshirt off or had the sleeves rolled up at some point. Started as a small hole and unraveled from there. Must have gotten snagged on some brush or a limb.

In hindsight, should have just taken it off instead of exposing it. More user error than product issue the way I see it.

Hunting and a few packraftong trips... likely more elevation gain than most is the only thing I'd say might be unusual and the fact I'm in NZ. They would do a minimum of 6000-10000 feet gain every other weekend. I may just have been unlucky the tops not too bad I can see how it could have got caught on things the bottoms surprised me as they maybe did a trip or 2 before they got holes that continue to open further each trip. May try use silicon of something to stop them unravelling. The missus set are better and don't have issues yet bit she's used them less. Maybe I got unlucky. The acclimas are much cheaper landed in NZ

No other base layers

This has me intrigued. So you guys are wearing these even under light weight wicking layers as well as when it gets cold for moisture management?

I definitely run hot and sweat pretty quick so I'm always trying to actively manage layers whether that's hiking to a treestand here in PA or on a hunt out west.

How do they work for a high exertion activity like trail running?

I wear aclima woolnet under cheap camo/blaze orange wicking shirts/hoodies from 30F-60F. Once I'm in a treestand I'll add insulating layers over top. It keeps me warm enough that I'm ok while moving or stopping for a short period but I never get overheated or sweaty. Below about 30F-40F I'll add/remove a light wool neck gaitor, beanie and gloves to regulate my comfort while on the move.

How do these work for stationary tree stand hunting? Looking at the Brynje website it looks like they have a couple options as well as their arctic line.
No perceptible difference than any other layer of similar thickness imo. However, if you work up a sweat getting to your stand than they’ll keep you warmer by keeping more moisture off your skin once you stop moving.

Where they really work amazingly well for static use is underneath a heated vest like the PNuma. The net buffers the heating element further from your skin so it won’t get uncomfortably hot. You also feel warmth over a much larger surface area of the skin because the air pockets of the net shirt get filled with heated air. It works so well, idk why heated vests aren’t designed with a net liner built right into them.

It’s a dream combination for bow hunting when trying to keep the bulk to a minimum.

That sounds like a sweet setup for bowhunting. I may need to try that.
