I've been recently looking into hunting in Europe and options for the Eurasian Brown Bear have been popping up in several countries.

It looks like you can hunt them in Croatia, Romania, Slovenia, Sweden and Russia.

Has anyone hunted one of these in Europe? Which country did you go to? Was it similar to a North American brown bear hunt?

Pricewise it looks like they are far more affordable than an Alaskan or Yukon hunt.

I looked into a brown bear hunt when we were in Croatia last year. It was a very reasonable hunt. I wanted to use my bow, but they don’t allow bowhunting there. I may consider going back with a rifle, just because of the price.
Don’t know about flying in with a rifle, you’ll have to check that one out.
Croatia is a beautiful country, so if you go, spend some time there.

I was in petrovaslask in 2006 moving buy-back boats over for the mob and had a run in with one….. they are true land sharks over there nothing like an Alaska encounter from my experience

when i hunted in sweden and finland we had bear opened in the area but the dogs were mostly interested by moose so no luck and the price was really friendly one ...

in croatia and slovenia that will be mostly over bait and the price will be associated with the size of the trophy and in the case of the bear that will the size of the skin.

a big trophy will not be cheap.

now for the 6mm sorry it will not work for the scandinavian countries and finland but minimun 6.5mm and for slovenia and croatia that will 7x64/280 rem and 7 mm rem mag with 170 grains but most will ask for a 30-06 or 300 win mag and 9,3x62 in the two hunting groups the swedish and finnish asked for 9.3x62 which were making sense as it was on really short distance.
