So looking at one of the two to replace my Unc 2.0. Just looking at specs the Whitecloud has more insulation and weighs less so I'm struggling to see why one would pick the new Northrange over it. I'm guessing for conditions you dont need utmost warmth? The original ad for the Northrange advertised it as windproof which was going to be the deciding factor for me, but looks like that was omitted from the actual production model. Both have dwr face fabric. Any one used either or both and can chime in?

Cant speak on the Whitecloud but just picked up the North Range a few weeks ago and its an awesome jacket. I think its more of an active insulation piece. I got it at a good price with the black friday sale.

I wore it today with a t shirt, sweater, jetstream vest and then the North Range on top with a beanie. It was approx. 15 degrees with 15+ mph winds and I was toasty. Moderate activity level. The hood cinches and bottom cinches work great. Pockets are in a good spot. I dont think it has wind stopper but it does do a great job in the wind

Its also super comfortable.

You’d pick the north range if you want a synthetic fill. That’s about it.

Down/whitecloud is going to be warmer, lighter, more packable, less durable, and the fit looks to be a tad larger for layering. The whitecloud is very much a static piece. The north range you could move in cold to extreme cold with. It’s still a puffy and not crazy durable.
